McGregor hobbled out barefoot — with people shouting “make a hole, make a hole” as he exited — after sustaining an apparent knee injury on his first attempted kick of the night against Max Holloway, turning his first UFC fight since 2021 into a major disappointment that led to plenty of boos.
He also declined an interview with Paramount Plus.
Just seconds into his fight against Holloway, McGregor, 37, maneuvered toward the center of the octagon and went to land a high kick with his left leg, but instead, he slipped and slid across the mat.
Then, he attempted to regroup and land the same kick, only to slip again.
That allowed Holloway to land punches, and the fight was called after just 69 seconds.

Holloway, in an interview after the fight, said that McGregor told him to fight even after the injury occurred, prompting Holloway to say, ‘You’re f—king crazy, bro.”
“When he went down the second time, I could just tell,” Holloway said. “His whole demeanor changed.”
