NYC flash storm causes ‘significant’ damage to Governors Island viewing site for Sail4th 250, shuttering $200 Premier Access
A flash storm in New York has damaged a viewing area on Governors Island for the July 4 tall ships parade in the Hudson, forcing the closure of part of the site, according to a statement from Sail4th 250.
“Due to a flash storm last night, the Premier Access area on Governors Island sustained significant damage,” read the statement.
“After assessing the site, we have made the difficult decision to cancel Premier Access viewing of the Parade of Sail in the interest of the safety of our guests and staff,” the statement continued.
The Quarter Deck and Captains Club experiences are said to be going ahead, but some amenities or services are set to be reduced as a result of the damage, according to Sail4th 250.
