Brother shot sister dead on front steps of NJ home before turning gun on himself

A crazed brother gunned down his sister in a murder suicide that started outside a New Jersey home, according to authorities.

Daniel Lopez, 60, shot his sister, Janet Camacho, and left her to die on the front steps of a Pennsauken home in southern New Jersey Wednesday morning before he turned the gun on himself, .

Police were called to a report of shots fired and a man armed with a handgun at a home on Bethel Avenue around 9 a.m. 

When cops arrived, they found Camacho on the stoop. She was rushed to Cooper University Hospital where she was declared dead shortly after, officials said.

Authorities established a perimeter around the residence, and were seen escorting neighbors out of their homes, WPVI reported.

Police deployed a robotic dog and located Lopez inside the home dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound about 90 minutes after the initial call.

Officials determined the incident to be a murder suicide, although the motive remains under investigation.

Surveillance footage obtained by WPVI, which the outlet determined was too graphic to air, reportedly shows the shooting and then a man pacing outside of the home.

Neighbor Michelle Jimenez said Lopez had been a close family friend.

“We used to invite him a lot for family parties. He would always be our guest. He was really close to our family. He was always nice. He would bake stuff for me and my siblings,” Jimenez told WPVI.

“It was just shocking to me. I didn’t believe it,” Jimenez said.
