Putin declares 3-day cease-fire in Ukraine war as Jared Kushner, Steve Witkoff land in Moscow
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a three-day cease-fire in his war on Ukraine Saturday, just as Jared Kushner and US envoy Steve Witkoff touched down in Moscow for peace talks.

The Russian strongman “gave orders to hold off on strikes on Kyiv for three days, starting at midnight today. This is due to the preparation and conduct of American contacts in Kyiv,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Pesko told Russia’s TASS news agency.
Witkoff and President Trump’s son-in-law landed in Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport and were greeted by Russian presidential envoy Kirill Dmitriev. Witnesses spotted their motorcade heading toward the city, Reuters reported.
The pair are also expected to travel to Kyiv on Sunday to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, their first ever trip to the capital city.

The trip to Moscow follows CIA Director John Ratcliffe’s stop there on Aug. 25 — and comes as the US has renewed efforts to end the deadly fighting between the adversaries.
President Trump suggested Friday that his intermediaries were making a push to finally end the conflict after more than four years.
“We have an idea for peace,” Trump said. “We sent them over to see whether or not we can get something done. And there may be a good chance that we’ll do it.”
