Twisted daughter carved out her father’s heart, laid it on his stomach after killing him: police

A crazed woman stabbed her father to death and then cut out his heart and placed it on his stomach, according to police.

Serena Dolnics, 32, was found covered in blood when police busted into the northwestern Indiana home where she allegedly butchered her 69-year-old father, Gregory Dolnics, who was found dead on the floor.

Gregory Dolnics was found next to blood-spattered furniture with slash wounds to the head, face, back of the neck and hands — and his heart, which had been carved out, was lying on his stomach, according to charging documents obtained by NWI.com. 

Police found the daughter in the house with slice wounds on her hands that she blamed on gardening tools.

She told police that she and her dad “get along really well, but have small tiffs here and that they both get over it quickly,” according to the document.

“Serena stated that she did not observe Gregory injured or hurt at all,” police wrote.

An autopsy confirmed Gregory Dolnics died from “multiple sharp force injuries” and his death was ruled a homicide.

Three knives were recovered inside the home with blood on them, according to WGN-TV.

Police initially responded to the home in Valparaiso — located about 50 miles southeast of Chicago — around 8 p.m. on Sunday to check on Dolnics after family members were unable to reach him.

While one of the family members was on the phone with 911, they began receiving calls and texts from a friend of Serena Dolnics, who made the grisly discovery, according to WGN-TV.

Dolnics was arrested and charged with murder. 

She appeared in court on Thursday morning over video call wearing a suicide vest as she pleaded not guilty.

When asked about her plans for an attorney, Serena Dolnics reportedly replied, “I’ll figure it out.”

A judge ordered she be held without bond. She will appear in court next for a hearing on Aug. 1 to determine the status of her legal representation.

Dolnics has a long criminal record, including pleading guilty for substance abuse in 2024, driving while intoxicated in 2017 and public intoxication in 2016, NWI.com reported.

Dolnics’ sister, Jennifer Naccarato, launched a GoFundMe to help cover her father’s funeral expenses.

“Recently my father was murdered by my sister. This incident came and took a complete toll on me and my family. We have no preparation or anything to start,” she wrote on the webpage.
