Disgraced mayor Misty Roberts dodges hefty prison sentence as victim’s mom torches her: ‘This predator has hair extensions, high heels, Botox’
DeRIDDER, Louisiana — Disgraced Louisiana Mayor Misty Roberts was torched by her teenage victim’s mother as she was sentenced to 90 days in jail for having sex with her son’s friend at a drunken party in 2024.

“Danger doesn’t always look like danger. Danger doesn’t always look like a man with candy or a puppy in a van or strangers we tell our kids to beware of,” the mother told Misty at her sentencing hearing Tuesday.
“This predator has hair extensions, high heels, Botox and other augmentations,” she added, choking back tears.
Misty, a 43-year-old mother of two, said she will serve the time instead of posting the $150,000 bond ordered by the judge – but she also dodged a huge prison sentence.
Prosecutors asked the judge to give her the max, 17 years, after she was convicted in March of having sex with the woman’s 16-year-old son in July 2024.
The age of consent in Louisiana is 17.
“In your statement today I didn’t feel totally comfortable with that. I was not particularly swayed by that,” Judge D. Kent Savoie said, explaining her didn’t buy her misty-eyed apology. “I was substantially touched by what I heard about how this affected the victims family.”
Savoie also meted out two 5-year suspended sentences and mandated that Roberts undergo therapy and pass regular drug and alcohol tests.
The then-mayor was throwing a party for her own son’s birthday, where she was flirting with his 16-year-old friend before taking the boy into a room and having sex with him.
And the boy’s mother said his life hasn’t been the same since.
“You thought so much of yourself in that bikini that night you knew exactly what you were doing with his mind. He was 16,” the mom said. “What hurt almost as much as the initial betrayal was the attempt to shift the blame onto a 16-year-old boy from a 42-year-old woman.”
“I don’t know what category of innocence you thought you were in,” she added, also calling Misty out for initially trying to avoid blame and telling her family to “lie till you die” about what happened.
The lewd crime turned into a scene when partygoers started noticing what was going on, with Misty’s own kids catching her in the act.
A screaming match erupted, with Misty’s son yelling that she “effed” his “best friend.”
Then when word got out about what happened, the victim’s mother requested Misty take a morning after pill to make sure she didn’t get pregnant.
“Out of respect for both our families, can you assure me that you can’t be pregnant?” the mother asked Misty by text.
Misty replied that she was on birth control and that the sex “didn’t reach that point in those few minutes to have that concern,” but she still took a Plan B pill that was delivered by DoorDash.
The perv ex-mayor groveled for an apology at her sentencing.
“I will blame myself for the rest of my life,” she said. “I have the perfect family, beautiful children but at some point I chose myself above everyone else.”
“I made a lot a promises to a lot of people to put DeRidder on the map. But I didn’t do it the way I wanted to,” she added.
Prosecutor Charles Robinson dismissed Mity’s remorse outright at the hearing.
“This is not a dumb lady. This is somebody who managed an entire city budget,” Robinson said.
“She has not come to the realization of accountability,” he added. “She is not sorry.”
