Anti-ICE protesters are pooling cash to deliver riot gear to the front lines of the\u00a0ongoing\u00a0chaos in Newark outside the Delaney Hall detention center \u2014 fueling criticism that the mayhem is a well-funded, coordinated effort by outside \u201cextremists.\u201d<\/p>\n

Donations are pouring in to help the protesters buy \u201chelmets\u201d and \u201cknee\/wrist\/shin\/arm guards\u201d along with military-grade goggles to stay outside Delaney Hall, according to one list\u00a0blasted out on social media by lefty political activist group the 50501 Movement, which was behind the No Kings anti-President Trump rallies.<\/p>\n

The protesters specifically listed MIL-PRF-32432 shatterproof goggles \u2014 which are considered \u201cU.S. military specification\u201d\u00a0that ensures protection from \u201cbattlefield-level projectile threats\u201d \u2014 on their wish list.<\/p>\n

The armor was listed as a high-priority need to be dropped at the chaotic protest site, while organizers from further away\u00a0were supporting\u00a0the purchases by sending cash to the personal Venmo of organizer Jenny Garcia.<\/p>\n

The tools are allegedly necessary for their battle against the \u201cICE Gestapo,\u201d according to Virginia-based 50501, which formed last year and was behind an eponymous nationwide protest. Its name stands for \u201c50 protests. 50 states. 1 day.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is professionalizing an attack on federal officials, and it makes it dangerous for everyone, makes it dangerous for themselves, for elected officials, for the obviously for the men and women who work there, and it\u2019s totally unacceptable,\u201d\u00a0Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) told The Post.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt makes you think that they obviously want to get involved in bruising altercations that they\u2019re going to be aggressive, and if they are, they should be arrested. That is not what a peaceful protest is. That is not what First Amendment rights are,\u201d he continued, calling the demonstrations \u201cvirtue signaling.\u201d<\/p>\n

The untold amount of pooled money was also being spent on wheelchairs, P100 respirators \u2014 which are considered \u201coil-proof\u201d \u2014 Sudecon, a decontamination wipe used to remove irritants such as pepper spray, and \u201cwelding gloves for incoming tear gas\u00a0cannisters.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump earlier this week called the protesters \u201cfake\u201d and alleged they were being funded by Democrats.<\/p>\n

Garcia\u2019s page has an archive of apparent previous donations, most of which were paired with captions reading \u201cF\u2013k ICE.\u201d<\/p>\n
