DALLAS \u2014 Vice President JD Vance on Thursday\u00a0reignited his spat with Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed\u00a0and disparaged the Democratic Party\u2019s distancing from \u201cbirthright\u201d American values in a Thursday address at the GOP midterm convention.<\/p>\n

And in a surprise moment, Vance erupted at a heckler who burst into the arena with a Mexican flag, telling the protester to go south of the border if he hated it up here so much.<\/p>\n

Vance talked about the latest addition to his own family with the birth of a new son and how the Trump administration in its first 19 months has sought to make the future more affordable, safer from violent crime and committed to \u201ccommon sense\u201d governance.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo the radicals who wish to abolish my family and the thousands and millions of other families all across our country, we have a simple message for them: Stay the hell away from our kids,\u201d the vice president said at the novel midterm event in Dallas.<\/p>\n

Moments later, a protester waving a \u201cMexican\u201d flag tried to shout down the vice president, causing him to quip:\u00a0\u201cWell, my friend, if you love Mexico so much, get your ass over there. I\u2019ll buy you the plane ticket.\u201d<\/p>\n

Republicans at the\u00a0American Airlines Center\u00a0erupted in cheers. Videos showed the protester was also escorted out of the arena.<\/p>\n

\u201cLadies and gentlemen, I had a whole speech written, but I think I got to change it because we just discovered the symbol of the far left,\u201d Vance added, dismissing the disruption as\u00a0\u201can idiot waving \u2026 a Mexican flag at a protest when he should be waving the flag of the United States of America.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s send these lunatics packing and govern our country for the future,\u201d he added later.<\/p>\n

Vance also\u00a0took aim at El-Sayed\u00a0as the latest example of what is wrong with the Democratic Party,\u00a0while taking issue with the candidate\u2019s comments last month about his own wife.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe asked, mockingly, whether I\u2019d bring Usha with me \u2018back in time to meet Papaw,\u2019\u201d Vance recounted, according to prepared remarks. \u201cThat is what he thinks of my grandfather \u2014 a man I loved, and who loved his family unconditionally.<\/p>\n

\u201cAbdul looks at him, sees the color of his skin, and decides that he could never have loved my wife.\u201d<\/p>\n

The vice president noted that the Senate Democratic hopeful was raised \u201cby his own white step-grandparents\u201d and \u201cknows exactly what that kind of bond looks like\u201d \u2014 but attacked his family regardless.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd he chose, anyway, to say that a man like my grandfather couldn\u2019t have loved from the bottom of his heart someone who looks like Usha,\u201d Vance continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is who the Democrats are now. They aren\u2019t the party of higher taxes and a little more regulation. They aren\u2019t the party of FDR, or JFK, or even Bill Clinton. No\u2014the Democrats are the party of hatred,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe party that despises America, and the people who built it. The party that can find sympathy for the terrorists who perpetrated 9\/11, but says people with names like James Vance are incapable of loving people with names like Usha.\u201d<\/p>\n

In an August trip to Detroit, Vance had told El-Sayed to \u201ckeep my wife\u2019s name the hell out of your mouth\u201d after the Michigan Democrat suggested his late grandfather\u00a0might have disapproved of his marriage\u00a0to second lady Usha Vance, an Indian-American Hindu.<\/p>\n

While he defended the Trump administration\u2019s record on border security, tax cuts and traditional values, Vance at one point engaged critics on the issue of the Iran war \u2014 using the late conservative icon Charlie Kirk\u2019s hatred of conflict to do so.<\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI think Charlie is a great example of how to disagree, but still participate in the work of saving this country,\u201d the vice president said. \u201cHe did not always agree with us. Let me just give you one example: Charlie hated war.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course, there are people who love what we\u2019ve done, people who don\u2019t. I\u2019m not here to litigate the disagreements,\u201d Vance added. \u201cBut what I\u2019m asking you to do is do what Charlie did. Do not throw the baby out with your bathwater.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t give the country over to a bunch of crazy people because you happen to disagree with us on a policy issue here,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Vance, 42, made his pitch to prospective voters less than two years before he\u2019s expected to compete for the 2028 Republican presidential nomination.<\/p>\n
