DALLAS \u2014 President Trump closed out the final night of the Republican midterm convention by asking thousands of attendees to raise their hands and pledge to vote \u2014 cautioning them of eternal damnation if they failed to do so.<\/p>\n

\u201cI pledge to the greatest president in the history of the United States \u2026 I\u2019m going to get my friends, my family, and we are going to vote on Nov. 3, or we are going to vote before that,\u201d Trump instructed party loyalists.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/strong>I don\u2019t care if I\u2019m registered or not. I\u2019m going to try and cheat like hell, like they do,\u201d he joked.<\/p>\n

After attendees eagerly made the vow, Trump added: \u201cYou know what happens if you don\u2019t vote? You go to hell.\u201d<\/p>\n

He spoke for less than a half hour on the final night of the two-day event after enrapturing his crowd for nearly two hours Wednesday as he offered US citizen adults $5,000 apiece if the GOP wins.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn 19 months, I\u2019ve delivered on every single promise I\u2019ve made,\u201d Trump said in his closing appeal, in which he repeated the $5,000 \u201cTrump dividend\u201d offer, despite that idea receiving a horrified response from fiscal hawks in Congress.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe took that dark age of America and turned it into the golden age of America,\u201d he crowed, hailing a booming stock market, lower prescription drug prices and increased military spending.<\/p>\n

He said his actions made the country \u201cthe energy and military superpower of the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump rattled off accomplishments including the near-elimination of illegal border crossings and ramming through Congress new tax breaks on overtime, tips and Social Security payments.<\/p>\n

Trump convened his party\u2019s first-ever midterm convention in a bid to reverse the well-established history of a president\u2019s party losing seats and used the free publicity to pump swing-state and local Texas contenders.<\/p>\n

If Democrats reclaim power, Trump said, they would \u201cconfiscate your wealth \u2026 abolish not tax on tips, no tax on overtime [and] destroy Texas oil and gas.\u201d<\/p>\n

Democrats would also \u201cset loose criminals to rob, rape and kill like we had just two years ago,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n

Whether the convention meaningfully changes the election\u2019s outcome is unclear, with some Trump allies privately expressing concern that the gathering could hurt centrists by tying regional races so closely to him.<\/p>\n

Vice President JD Vance, who gave the night\u2019s keynote address before Trump, received one of the strongest crowd reactions of the entire convention when he told a heckler waving a foreign flag to \u201cget your ass over there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vance, Trump\u2019s heir apparent in 2028, also tackled head-on one of Republicans\u2019 major vulnerabilities, the war with Iran, which has caused inflation and energy prices to increase.<\/p>\n

He said the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated one year ago Thursday, strongly opposed foreign wars, but would not break with the Republican Party on that issue alone.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u200aWhat I\u2019m asking you to do is do what Charlie did. Do not throw the baby out with the bathwater,\u201d Vance said. \u201cDon\u2019t give the country over to a bunch of crazy people because you happen to disagree with us on a policy issue here or there.\u201d<\/p>\n
