Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani \u2014 who led the Big Apple through Sept. 11, 2001 \u2014 said there was \u201cno question\u201d that Mayor Zohran Mamdani should skip the memorial ceremonies marking the 25th anniversary of the terror attacks.<\/p>\n

Giuliani \u2014 whose steady leadership in the aftermath of the attacks earned him the nickname \u201cAmerica\u2019s mayor\u201d \u2014 said the notion of Mamdani attending the memorials this week \u201coffends me\u201d during an interview on Newsmax Sunday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe reality is this ceremony is for the families and for America to remember historically,\u201d Giuliani said. <\/p>\n

\u201cHaving lost friends there and being very close to many of the families, it offends me that he\u2019s coming,\u201d he said of Mamdani.<\/p>\n

The 82-year-old ex-mayor also claimed that Mamdani \u201cdoesn\u2019t agree that September 11 was an Islamic terrorist attack on the United States Of America,\u201d before going off on an anti-Muslim conspiracy-laced rant.<\/p>\n

He spewed baseless claims that Mamdani, who is a practicing Muslim, was part of a global Islamic plot to \u201cdominate\u201d the western world.<\/p>\n

\u201cToo many Americans fall for that Islamic propaganda, which is the reason they\u2019re taking over certain parts of America and certain parts of Europe,\u201d he raved.<\/p>\n

Giuliani even suggested Mamdani was worse than the 9\/11 hijackers \u2014 saying terror mastermind Osama Bin Laden was open about his hatred of the US, but that the mayor \u201cis trying to hide it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Republican former mayor\u2019s diatribe made him one of the most prominent voice so far to call for Mamdani to stay away from memorial ceremonies this week, a demand which several 9\/11 victim\u2019s families have voiced and an online petition has endorsed with nearly 100,000 signatures.<\/p>\n
