A 2-year-old boy allegedly murdered by his Lindsay Clancy-obsessed mother was found hanging by his neck from the rafters by a horrified neighbor \u2014 who then discovered the mom-of-four upstairs in a bathtub trying to kill herself, officials said.<\/p>\n

Corie Walsh, 40, is charged with murdering little Bennet Walsh \u2014 whom she described to police as the \u201canti-Christ\u201d and the \u201cdevil\u201d \u2014 just hours after discussing the trial for Lindsay Clancy.<\/p>\n

The Clancy case has captivated the nation over her claim that she was legally insane due to postpartum psychosis when she strangled her three children to death with exercise bands. Her murder trial ended in a hung jury and mistrial on Friday.<\/p>\n

Similarly, Walsh\u2019s lawyer is claiming she suffered a psychotic episode before she killed her young son. <\/p>\n

Walsh\u2019s unnamed female neighbor found the toddler\u2019s lifeless body hanging by a rope around his neck and his feet off the ground in the basement of the family\u2019s home in Frankfort, Ill., a suburb southwest of\u00a0 Chicago, around 4 p.m. Tuesday, according to court documents obtained by CNN.<\/p>\n

She removed the ligature, lowered him to the ground and began performing CPR while calling 911. First responders rushed Bennet to the hospital where he died.<\/p>\n

The same neighbor also discovered Walsh upstairs in a bloody bathtub \u201cactively harming herself\u201d with a knife with slashes to her wrists and thighs, according to court documents.<\/p>\n

The neighbor took the knife out of Walsh\u2019s hands and threw it into the sink. She then pressed a towel over Walsh\u2019s thigh wound.<\/p>\n

Walsh asked the neighbor why she took the knife away as she was trying to kill herself, according to court documents.<\/p>\n

\u201cBear\u201d \u2014 Walsh\u2019s nickname for her slain son \u2014 was in the basement, Walsh told the neighbor.<\/p>\n

Walsh spoke with police officers while she was being treated in the hospital and described how she killed Barrett, which prosecutors say was \u201cconsistent with the evidence in this case,\u201d according to court documents.<\/p>\n

Walsh\u2019s lawyer told ABC 7 Chicago that the mother of four \u201cwas experiencing a psychotic episode.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a tragedy, for the Walsh family all of whom are mourning the loss of this child,\u201d attorney Andrea Lyon said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is our hope that through a thorough presentation and investigation of the facts, that all of us will come to see this heartbreak for what it is.\u201d<\/p>\n

Clancy\u2019s trial, which has gripped the nation for more than six weeks, ended in a mistrial on Friday after a jury could not reach a verdict to convict her of murdering her three children with plastic bands or whether she should be found not guilty by reason of insanity.<\/p>\n

Clancy\u2019s defense team claimed she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and overprescribed powerful psychiatric medications.<\/p>\n
