Tim Curry\u2019s cause of death was released following his passing at the age of 80 on Aug. 25.<\/p>\n

Curry died of coronary artery disease, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health\u2019s documents obtained by People.<\/p>\n

The docs also listed a history of stroke and kidney cancer as other significant conditions that contributed to Curry\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

No operations were performed for Curry\u2019s coronary artery disease, kidney cancer or history of stroke, according to the outlet.<\/p>\n

Last Wednesday, the Los Angeles Police Department told Page Six, \u201cOn August 25, 2026, at 11:23 p.m., police responded to the 10500 block of La Maida St. for a radio call of a death investigation for a subject described as an 80-year-old male.\u201d<\/p>\n

The LAPD confirmed that a death investigation report was completed.<\/p>\n

The British actor, best known for his role as the garish Dr. Frank-N-Furter in \u201cThe Rocky Horror Picture Show,\u201d had been in ill health for many years after suffering a debilitating stroke in 2012, in the midst of receiving a massage.<\/p>\n

The medical emergency brought him \u201cway too close to death,\u201d he said in a 2025 interview with the NYT.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a curious experience,\u201d he shared. \u201cI didn\u2019t know it was happening at the time. They told me at the hospital and operated on my brain and removed, I think, two blood clots, which is a sort of grim picture. I found that very difficult to cope with as an image.\u201d<\/p>\n

Curry added that he felt \u201clike somebody had paddled around in my brain.\u201d<\/p>\n

The stroke left him paralyzed along his left side and temporarily unable to talk, a prospect that left him terrified.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think my father had a stroke when he was 45 and died later from pneumonia,\u201d he told the NYT. \u201cAnd I kept remembering my mother talking about going to see him in hospital. He could only blink for yes and no. I dreaded that. I didn\u2019t want that to happen to me. It was very peculiar not to be able to speak, and to find a voice again was difficult.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although he did learn to speak again, he never gained mobility and used a wheelchair.<\/p>\n

At a 50th anniversary \u201cRocky Horror Picture Show\u201d screening in Los Angeles in Sept. 2025,\u00a0Curry gave an update on his health, telling the audience he \u201cstill can\u2019t walk, which is why I\u2019m in this silly chair, and that\u2019s very limiting.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI won\u2019t be singing and I won\u2019t be dancing very soon,\u201d he shared. \u201cI still have real problems with my left leg.\u201d<\/p>\n

The three-time Tony nominee received acclaim for his onscreen roles in movies like \u201cAnnie,\u201d \u201cClue,\u201d the Concierge in \u201cHome Alone 2: Lost in New York,\u201d and Long John Silver in \u201cMuppet Treasure Island.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another notable role was Pennywise in the ABC miniseries \u201cIt,\u201d based on Stephen King\u2019s 1986 horror novel.<\/p>\n
