One was an Ohio mayor, whom she had a sexual liaison with inside a car which was under electronic FBI surveillance, although the mayor\u2019s identity has never been revealed.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement to The Post, APAPA said their \u201ccurrent national leadership has no information\u201d Fang ever held an authorized role in the group.<\/p>\n<p>The leaders of APAPA have been scrutinized by US watchdog groups over their apparent ties to China\u2019s ruling party.<\/p>\n<p>Henry Yin, 79, is APAPA\u2019s national chair and has claimed to be an adviser to California Democratic Congressman\u00a0Ro Khanna.<\/p>\n<p>Yin, a Chinese-American, is\u00a0associated with numerous United Front groups, which are arms of the CCP. Between 2013 and 2023, Yin traveled to China to promote tech investment as the \u201chead of the Silicon Valley Entrepreneurs Delegation,\u201d where he gave speeches on \u201cperspectives as overseas Chinese in the US,\u201d according to the party-controlled\u00a0Sichuan Daily News.<\/p>\n<p>Yin is also named in reports by the CCP-controlled Sichuan Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, which refer to him by his Chinese name as an \u201coverseas Chinese leader in California and Silicon Valley.\u201d A 2013\u00a0report from the ministry\u00a0also mentions an education foundation scholarship in the Yin family\u2019s hometown in Sichuan province, which the ministry supported. <\/p>\n<p>The Yin family is also credited as investing in Renshou County\u2019s \u201cdevelopment of science and technology industries,\u201d and attracting investment from the US.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAPAPA is a locus of pro-CCP activity. Its mission is explicitly political,\u201d\u00a0claimed Jackie Deal, a senior fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute in Philadelphia.\u00a0APAPA says its mission is to advance Asian and Pacific Islander communities \u201cthrough increased leadership and civic engagement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yin made inroads in US politics in the early aughts and was appointed to the California Commission for Economic Development in 2010 by then-Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, which was renewed four years later by the next governor, Jerry Brown.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith my many social networking resources in both the US and China and many, years experience in government, business and social communities, I won\u2019t hesitate if the [US] Federal Government chooses to use me for something in the future,\u201d Yin told the\u00a0China Daily newspaper\u00a0at that time.<\/p>\n<p>Yin did not respond to requests for comment on this story from The Post,\u00a0nor is he accused of any wrongdoing.<\/p>\n<p>Yin has been a senior adviser to Khanna since 2019,\u00a0according to his LinkedIn page. That same year, Khanna posted to X: \u201cHenry will serve as my Senior Advisor on Foreign Trade and Economic Development.\u201d alongside a photo of him, Yin and other Chinese-American community members.<\/p>\n<p>But Khanna\u2019s spokeswoman denied the connection to Yin to The Post last week, saying: \u201cHenry lives in Fremont and is a respected community member, but has never held a formal role with the Congressman.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/metrotransitreview.com\/?p=7901\">Times Square stabbing is just the latest proof progressives are the enemies of public order<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Khanna is the ranking member on the House\u2019s Select Committee on Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party \u2014 which was set up to investigate CCP influence on the US.<\/p>\n<p>He recently asked for a data center \u201cbill of rights\u201d to guard against their proliferation in the US \u2014 at a time when recent intelligence reports have indicated the CCP is conducting\u00a0a coordinated campaign\u00a0to stall the development of US AI data centers.<\/p>\n<p>APAPA said it has \u201cnot taken a position\u201d on the issue of data centers, but added: \u201cPersonal views of individuals associated with APAPA do not represent an organizational position.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The group also has links to other currently serving politicians.<\/p>\n<p>In Brooklyn, Assemblyman William Colton took home a \u201cCommunity Champion Award\u201d from APAPA at the group\u2019s 2023 gala. Colton\u2019s former longtime aide, Susan Zhuang, was a volunteer and member of APAPA.<\/p>\n<p>Zhuang was elected to City Council in 2023, and\u00a0was arrested for biting a cop\u00a0during a homeless protest in 2024. The charges were later dismissed after she completed a restorative justice program.<\/p>\n<p>Democratic New York State Senator Samra Brouk has hosted APAPA interns in her office,\u00a0according to APAPA\u2019s website, as has Democratic New York State Assemblyman Ron Kim.<\/p>\n<p>In California, Marilyn Cachola Lucey, APAPA\u2019s national Chief Operating Officer is a former policy director for California Assemblywoman\u00a0Rebecca Bauer-Kahan.<\/p>\n<p>Another APAPA board member, Andrew Truman Kim, worked as an aide to Rep John Garamendi (D-Calif.)<\/p>\n<p>None of those aides have been suspected of wrongdoing or tied to China or espionage, but watchdogs warn at a time of heightened security such as now, officials need to be on high alert.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPublic officials should strongly scrutinize any APAPA efforts that align with CCP objectives,\u00a0including the CCP influence operations to prevent data center construction across America,\u201d said Michael Lucci, founder and CEO of State Armor, a nonprofit countering CCP threats.<\/p>\n<p>Khanna\u2019s office said of Yin: \u201cThe Congressman does not know Henry\u2019s views on AI data centers and has never discussed the issue with him.\u201d<\/p>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The employment history or personal views of individuals associated with APAPA do not represent an organizational position.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Fang graduated from Beijing\u2019s University of International Relations, a spy school run by the Ministry of State Security, according to Chinese media reports. She worked as a flight attendant before coming to the US around 2011 on a student visa. She was under FBI scrutiny two years later,\u00a0according to the declassified papers.<\/p>\n<p>The agency even tried to recruit her as a double agent, but that attempt failed and once she realized she was being surveilled, she fled to China in 2015, according to reports.<\/p>\n<p>She now works for a tech company in her home country.
