The anti-ICE rioter who allegedly sank his teeth into federal law enforcement officers during a violent protest at Delaney Hall Thursday has been charged.<\/p>\n

Brendan John Geier, 26, was charged Friday for allegedly \u201ckicking and biting\u201d ICE officers outside the Newark detention center, leaving \u201chorrific wounds,\u201d\u00a0Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche announced in a social media post, which included photos of the bloodied and bruised cops.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cPeaceful protest doesn\u2019t translate to violently attacking federal law enforcement officers,\u201d Blanche said in a statement. \u201cFederal officers are protecting United States\u2019 property and facilities. With virtually no local law enforcement support from New Jersey, rioters are regrouping and attacking.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will not tolerate the vicious attacks we have seen in Newark the last few days, and we will make arrests and hold people accountable for criminal conduct.\u201d<\/p>\n

Geier, of Madison, NJ, appeared before US Magistrate Judge Cari Fais on Friday.<\/p>\n

The DOJ alleges Geier was part of a large group of demonstrators that were blocking a road leading to the Delaney Hall ICE detention center at around 10:30 p.m. Thursday.<\/p>\n

The facility has been the site of raucous demonstrations in recent days related to the alleged poor condition of detainees inside the facility, which the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) vehemently denies is the case. <\/p>\n

ICE officers \u201cin an attempt to clear the road, formed into a line and began to move towards the group of demonstrators, which included Geier,\u201d according to the DOJ. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe deportation officers issued commands to the demonstrators to \u2018move back,\u2019 but the demonstrators, including Geier, ignored those commands and refused to clear the road,\u201d the department said. \u201cGeier instead engaged in a struggle with deportation officers, kicking officers and ultimately biting an officer\u2019s forearm, and another\u2019s knuckle. Both victims received treatment at a local hospital.\u201d<\/p>\n

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin described Geier as a \u201cviolent agitator\u201d on X.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Trump Administration will ALWAYS stand with our federal law enforcement officers,\u201d Mullin said. \u201cAnyone who assaults a law enforcement officer will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Clashes between law enforcement and protesters continued near Delaney Hall Friday night despite New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill\u2019s attempt to establish a \u201cpeaceful\u201d protest zone.<\/p>\n

Chants of \u201cKill yourself, quit your job, quit your job,\u201d were heard from the anti-ICE agitators at one point. <\/p>\n

Law enforcement depolyed tear gas and pepper spray in an effort to dispurse the unruly crowd, according to footage.<\/p>\n
