Mikie Sherrill\u2019s \u2018peaceful\u2019 protest zone<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Demonstrators and top Garden State Democrats have demanded that DHS shutdown the privately-operated facility in Newark amid reports of inhumane conditions and bad quality food inside the 1,000 beds detention center that is currently housing about 300 migrants.<\/p>\n<p>DHS counters that the standard of living at Delaney Hall is higher than most US prisons and contends detainees are not on a hunger strike.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The department provided The Post with a list of weekly breakfast, lunch and dinner options detainees have been offered at the facility, which is run by GEO Group, within the last month.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Breakfast:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Oatmeal\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Pancakes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Scrambled eggs\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Grilled potatoes\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Chicken breakfast meat\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Cream of rice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Dry cereal\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Milk<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Coffee\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Lunch:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Chicken leg quarter<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Turkey stir-fry\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Beef and bean burrito<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Vegetarian beans\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Chicken fajita meat with a tortilla<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Spanish rice\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Fideo with meat sauce\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Chicken fried steak\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Fortified sugar free tea<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Dinner:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Jambalaya<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Meat and vegetable stew<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Tuna salad<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Salisbury patty with gravy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Enchilada casserole<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Chili mac\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Potato wedges<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Mixed vegetables\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Fortified sugar free beverage<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin has also pointed out that Delaney Hall\u00a0 detainees have access to a commissary, where they can purchase different food, if they don\u2019t like what\u2019s being served.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/metrotransitreview.com\/?p=774\">\u2018Hell on Wheels\u2019 killer Mackenzie Shirilla\u2019s father calls her \u2018dumb\u2019 in heated exchange with police after arrest<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, if any of these Democrats want to provide commissary on their books \u2014 feel free. Take your personal money and provide all the money you want for these detainees,\u201d Mullin said in a Newsmax interview earlier this week.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A DHS spokesperson told The Post \u201cthere is no hunger strike at Delaney Hall at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the record: During hunger strikes, ICE continues to provide three meals a day, delivered to the detained alien\u2019s room, and an adequate supply of drinking water or other beverages,\u201d the spokesperson continued. \u201cAll detainees are provided with 3 meals a day, clean water, clothing, bedding, showers, soap, and toiletries.<\/p>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cIllegal aliens also have access to phones to communicate with their family members and lawyers,\u201d they added. \u201cCertified dieticians evaluate meals.
