Tony Romo is \u201ctaking full responsibility\u201d for allegedly driving while intoxicated \u2014 and teasing a possible return to CBS Sports.<\/p>\n

After the network\u2019s lead NFL game analyst was placed \u201con leave\u201d following last month\u2019s OWI arrest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, his rep told TMZ on Thursday that they are \u201ccommunicating with CBS about next steps.\u201d<\/p>\n

The rep insisted his client \u201caccepts full responsibility for his actions and has taken proactive steps to ensure that this isolated civil matter is properly resolved,\u201d adding, \u201cWe are working with local authorities to bring this matter to a close.\u201d<\/p>\n

Romo\u2019s attorney and reps for CBS Sports did not immediately respond to Page Six\u2019s requests for comment.<\/p>\n

On July 23, the retired NFL star was pulled over by a Milwaukee County Sheriff\u2019s Office deputy for \u201cunsafe passing\u201d while he was driving southbound I-43 on the high-rise bridge.<\/p>\n

The 46-year-old\u00a0seemed confused by the traffic stop\u00a0and said he was on his way to his grandparents\u2019 house after spending the day at a golf course.<\/p>\n

The arresting deputy told Romo he was under investigation for OWI \u201cbased on [his] driving and where [he was] coming from\u201d as well as his \u201cred, glassy eyes and the odor of an intoxicating alcoholic beverage on [his] breath.\u201d<\/p>\n

Though the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback insisted he had \u201czero\u201d alcoholic beverages, the deputy said they found \u201ca few shooters\u201d in his backpack and an \u201copen bottle of an alcoholic beverage\u201d on the passenger side of his car.<\/p>\n

Romo was then taken to the station, where he struggled through a field sobriety test.<\/p>\n

In bodycam footage, he was seen stretching on one of the patrol vehicles before admitting he did not understand the instructions to complete the tasks, explaining, \u201cThere\u2019s too many.\u201d<\/p>\n

Deputies later asked the ex-athlete whether he\u2019d submit to a breathalyzer, to which he responded, \u201cOh, no, we\u2019re not doing that. I already heard from all the lawyers don\u2019t ever do that.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cLike I said, I want my lawyer \u2014 for the eighth time.\u201d<\/p>\n

The deputies then explained they would be asking a judge to sign off on a warrant to obtain a blood draw to determine what \u2014 if anything \u2014 was in his system and how much.<\/p>\n

The married father of three has been cited for allegedly operating a vehicle while intoxicated, possessing open intoxicants in his car, unsafe passing and refusing to take a chemical test for intoxication following an arrest for OWI, which triggered the state\u2019s notice to revoke his driver\u2019s license. However, he has requested a refusal hearing.<\/p>\n

Following the arrest \u2014 which marks his first \u2014 the sports commentator was booked and released shortly after and is due in court for an intake hearing on Sept. 21.<\/p>\n

A first-offense OWI charge in Wisconsin is generally considered a civil offense, typically carrying a fine ranging from $150 to $300.<\/p>\n
