It also put a $10 million bounty on his head. His mother also has been a target of Iranian hardliners, and Melania Trump was at the April correspondents\u2019 dinner alongside the president.<\/p>\n<p>Barron was also deeply affected by the September 2025 assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, with whom he had become close.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is what happens when you go out there,\u201d Barron told his father while breaking the news to the president, an account first reported by authors Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan in their recent book \u201cRegime Change\u201d and confirmed by The Post.<\/p>\n<p>The Office of the First Lady requested privacy for the 20-year-old Barron, telling The Post that \u201cin light of recent threats\u201d the East Wing asked that \u201cany details concerning his private life be excluded from all coverage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The first lady is known to be protective of her son.<\/p>\n<p>In early 2022, Donald Trump was between White House terms, meaning Barron was set to lose his Secret Service detail when he turned 16 that March.<\/p>\n<p>However, Melania Trump stepped in by ordering her office to contact the White House and request then-President Joe Biden authorize an extension of Barron\u2019s detail \u2014 a request that was promptly granted, a former Biden administration official said.<\/p>\n<p>The first lady hinted at her son\u2019s shyness in her self-titled documentary chronicling the runup to Trump\u2019s second inauguration in January 2025.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know Barron won\u2019t go out. And I respect that,\u201d Melania told Secret Service agents while discussing the possibility of the first family walking down Pennsylvania Avenue as part of the inaugural parade, which was ultimately moved indoors due to cold weather.<\/p>\n<p>The constant security, while giving Barron the protection he needs, also heightens his awareness that threats are out there \u2014 even in ways as small as overhearing his agents talk about potential danger to a last-minute change in travel plans, experts say.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBarron is probably a lot more aware and a lot more astute, and a lot more conscientious in terms of the real dangers,\u201d Dr. Azita Sayan, a therapist who has not treated Barron but has dealt with adolescent trauma, told The Post.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/metrotransitreview.com\/?p=7598\">It\u2019s the socialism, stupid: The DSA may cost Dems their blue wave<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut reclusive doesn\u2019t mean traumatized,\u201d she added. \u201cHe\u2019s protecting himself and making his friendships and his decisions privately rather than to have them be on display, which I think is developmentally healthy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chelsea Clinton, who lived in the White House from age 12 until she left DC to attend college at Stanford University in the fall of 1997, recently told \u201cThe Skinny Confidential Him &amp; Her Show\u201d that she would deliberately stay indoors as often as possible to give her and her friends privacy and space.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf we were in the White House,\u201d Clinton noted, \u201cSecret Service didn\u2019t need to be on the same floor as we were studying or talking about boys or whatever we were doing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Barron already has his own spaces in each of his parents\u2019 residences \u2014 including his own suite at Mar-a-Lago and his own floor at Trump Tower in Midtown Manhattan. At the White House, his room features custom furniture built by the on-site carpentry shop to fit his 6\u20199\u2033 frame.<\/p>\n<p>Wherever he stays, Barron moves quickly inside when he arrives, avoiding public areas and heading straight to his private retreats.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou don\u2019t see him hanging around,\u201d said one source in the first family\u2019s orbit.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a marked difference from his older siblings, who have chosen to have more public lives. Don Jr. and Eric are heavily involved in the Trump family business.
