The summer of sewer diving keeps on going.<\/p>\n

Five \u201cmole people\u201d dove down a manhole into the Long Island drainage system in an overnight run Thursday \u2014 just one week after a seemingly separate trio emerged in NYC.<\/p>\n

The unidentified urban spelunkers descended into the Wantagh storm drain at the intersection of Wantagh Avenue and Jerusalem Avenue at around 1 a.m., WABC reported.<\/p>\n

The group was captured on surveillance cameras working together to get the cover open before sliding into the opening into the underground in a matter of seconds, according to video obtained by the outlet.<\/p>\n

The men, wearing black shirts and shorts, slipped inside before closing the cover as all five vanished into the depths below the street, where several shopping centers are located.<\/p>\n

Two witnesses had watched the night crawlers and called the Nassau County Police, the outlet reported.<\/p>\n

Investigators went down into the sewer but came up empty-handed in their search for the wannabe Ninja Turtles.<\/p>\n

Residents of the Long Island neighborhood questioned the potential motives behind the midnight adventures.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s kind of dangerous; I don\u2019t know what they have in mind,\u201d one resident told the outlet.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a level of concern, but you can\u2019t stop people from doing what they want to do,\u201d a man said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s kind of crazy to be honest with you. I have seen it on the news recently,\u201d a third added.<\/p>\n

Thursday\u2019s sewer break-in comes a week after a trio was seen climbing up from a manhole outside Penn Station and Madison Square Garden in Manhattan around 4:20 a.m. on Aug. 18.<\/p>\n

The viral TikTok video captured the headlamp-wearing men emerging from underground near the intersection of 32nd Street and Seventh Avenue \u2014 just feet from the main entrance to Penn Station.<\/p>\n

The trio has not been captured, officials said.<\/p>\n

NYPD detectives were using surveillance footage and facial recognition technology to try to identify and track the men down.<\/p>\n

The Big Apple has had several reports of large groups of men entering or emerging from the city\u2019s sewage systems, including in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, back in May.<\/p>\n

Authorities cautioned against the bizarre adventure, warning potential divers of the dangers in the sewage system.<\/p>\n

\u201cSewers can contain numerous hazards, including noxious and potentially deadly gases, unstable surfaces, flooding risks, and confined spaces,\u201d the DEP said in a statement. \u201cFor these reasons, members of the public should never enter a pipe, drain, catch basin, manhole, or outfall.\u201d<\/p>\n

Officials believe the NYC incidents may have involved migrants searching for valuables lost underneath the big city, WABC reported.<\/p>\n
