In July, a UNICEF-led team\u2019s report not only found \u201cno widespread acute malnutrition\u201d in Gaza,\u00a0notes The Free Press\u2019 Olivia Reingold, it also showed Gaza\u00a0\u201chas one of the lowest rates of acute child malnutrition in the region.\u201d Indeed, the strip\u2019s current health challenge is \u201cobesity and weight excess, which affect a combined 4 percent of children under the age of 5.\u201d Only a year ago, the UN\u2019s hunger-monitoring system warned \u201cmore than half a million Palestinians were \u2018facing catastrophic conditions characterized by starvation, destitution, and death.\u2019\u201d Humanitarian groups just can\u2019t seem to explain the reversal, but a \u201cmajor organization is still fundraising\u201d on the starvation claim, and news of the UN report \u201chas been hard to find in the mainstream press.\u201d \u00a0<\/p>\n

Libertarian: Trump\u2019s Right on Data Centers<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s\u00a0a tough time\u00a0to be\u00a0a data center,\u201d\u00a0observes Robby Soave at The Hill.\u00a0 A \u201cvital part\u201d of the tech economy, they\u2019ve \u201csuffered a complete collapse\u201d of public support, even though they\u2019re \u201ceconomic boons.\u201d Heck, \u201cthey generate\u202fso much money\u201d\u202ffor Loudoun County, Va., \u201cthat the local government was able to cut everybody else\u2019s property taxes.\u201d President Trump \u201cfrequently touts their benefits,\u201d and he\u2019s right. People are \u201cirritated about new construction,\u201d are \u201cfalling for popular but incorrect talking points\u201d about how centers gobble up resources. Advocates must better explain their \u201chuge\u201d value for the country and community, as they\u2019ll soon be \u201cmassively important\u201d for America and its conflicts with \u201cadversary,\u201d \u201cauthoritarian regimes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trade hawk: Canada\u2019s the Wrong War, Don<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u201cThe greatest threat today to American manufacturing and global exports comes from China,\u201d warns UnHerd\u2019s Michael Lind. \u201cWhy, then, is the Trump administration appeasing China on trade, while picking fights with countries like Canada that are friends and allies?\u201d President Trump is \u201ccracking down\u201d on Canada over non-strategic industries like \u201cdairy, alcohol, and plywood,\u201d instead of the nation that commands 28% of global manufacturing and 56% of global shipbuilding. \u201cBut hey, at least when it comes to plywood,\u201d Canada takes the cake. \u201cOh, wait<\/em> \u2014 China is responsible for more than 54% of global plywood exports.\u201d While \u201ca rational American trade strategy would focus on a hard decoupling of the United States from market-Leninist China,\u201d Trump insists on this \u201cpersonal and whimsical and finally incoherent\u201d beef with Canada \u2014 the \u201cexact opposite of what American strategy in the 21st century demands.\u201d<\/p>\n

Conservative: Dem \u2018Jellyfish\u2019 vs. Jew-hate<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u201cThis week began with influential progressive Hasan Piker blaming Jews for the violent anti-Semitism against them and threatening them that more was coming,\u201d thunders Commentary\u2019s Seth Mandel \u2014 and the Democratic Party has shown itself to be \u201cled by jellyfish\u201d like Rep. Hakeem Jeffries on this issue (though \u201cnot entirely without vertebrates\u201d like Rep. Hillary Scholten, who slammed Piker). Dem \u201cpowers-that-be are afraid\u201d of a Twitch streamer and his \u201cmean tweets\u201d;\u00a0 \u201cwhat can be done to immunize them from the fear?\u201d \u201cA steady drumbeat of headache-inducing stories,\u201d for a start. Yet \u201cmainstream media do not hound left-wing anti-Semites\u201d \u2014 though \u201cJeffries would be thankful for such help.\u201d Unless someone forces his hand, \u201cthe Democrats will appear to be just as much Piker\u2019s party as Jeffries\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAmerica doesn\u2019t produce a single ton of primary magnesium,\u201d though before World War Two we \u201cperfected a way to extract magnesium from ordinary seawater\u201d and were producing \u201c200,000 tons annually\u201d of the metal that is \u201can ingredient in nearly every other metal that matters,\u201d\u00a0notes Elise Stefanik at The Wall Street Journal. We ceded the ground as \u201cBeijing followed a deliberate playbook\u201d to build its dominance, \u201ccombining subsidized energy and capital, cheap labor and lax environmental enforcement,\u201d taking over an industry we used to dominate. \u201cAmerica is losing a race it didn\u2019t even know was being run,\u201d making \u201cnow\u201d \u201cthe time to make this a national priority,\u201d or else we\u2019ll \u201cremain dependent on China for a metal critical to American industry.\u201d<\/p>\n
