Kathy Hochul raced to gaslight New York on Tuesday by falsely claiming her new anti-ICE law will boost public safety, when it will do the reverse.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/metrotransitreview.com\/?p=7441\">Kim Kardashian\u2019s a momager and friend to North West instead of what she needs \u2014 a mother<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Yes: the Local Cops, Local Crimes Act <em>undermines<\/em> public safety \u2014 and good for her GOP gubernatorial rival, Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, for standing up to her on it.<\/p>\n<p>The law \u201censures that law enforcement resources are directed toward local public safety priorities,\u201d fibbed a Hochul press release, also claiming it\u2019ll \u201ckeep New Yorkers safe from federal overreach.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Utter baloney. The measure bars cops from cooperating with federal agents who are working primarily to get <em>criminals <\/em>off the streets and out of the country.<\/p>\n<p>It also bans the use of local jails to temporarily hold illegal immigrants for ICE.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny police department or sheriff\u2019s office that disobeys this law,\u201d huffed Hochul, \u201cwill face legal action.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>How does shielding criminals <em>boost <\/em>public safety? Well, \u201cwe need local police focused on thwarting local crimes,\u201d claims the gov.<\/p>\n<p>Please. Foreign criminals roaming the streets <em>increase <\/em>\u201clocal crimes.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The gov pretends that letting cops work with federal law-enforcers diverts resources and will somehow feed federal \u201coverreach.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Madness: Blocking cooperation can only force ICE to conduct more <em>broad <\/em>operations, burdening immigrant communities and obliging local cops to handle agents\u2019 standoffs with the inevitable lefty \u201cactivists\u201d trying to block enforcement. <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/metrotransitreview.com\/?p=7439\">Giants trade Josh Ezeudu to Chiefs for 2028 seventh-round pick<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Her reasoning is beyond flimsy: Of 53 counties that had no formal 287(g) agreements to cooperate with the feds, she argues, \u201cseven are among the 25 safest communities in America, demonstrating that 287(g) agreements are non-essential to improving safety.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That demonstrates <em>nothing:<\/em> Illegal-immigrant criminals tend to <em>shun <\/em>already-safe areas, so neither ICE nor any agreements are needed there.<\/p>\n<p>The Long Island towns plagued by violent migrant gangs like MS-13 absolutely <em>need <\/em>local-federal cooperation.<\/p>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Which is why Blakeman has eagerly worked with ICE: \u201cWe got rid of 2,000 illegal migrants with criminal records in Nassau County without raiding a church, a school, a daycare center, a hospital, because we cooperated with ICE,\u201d he\u2019s noted. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>By contrast, the Department of Homeland Security reported in December that New York has released 7,000 illegal migrant criminals without notifying ICE since President Donald Trump took office.
