The late Dolly Parton may have had one of the world\u2019s most successful careers, but the singer, actress, businesswoman and philanthropist came from extraordinarily modest beginnings. <\/p>\n

Parton, who died Tuesday at the age of 80, grew up in a one-bedroom cabin in the Great Smoky Mountains in Locust Ridge, just outside of Sevierville, Tennessee. She was the fourth of 12 kids, and per historical records of the region, the cabin had no electricity or running water. <\/p>\n

She was born on Jan. 19, 1946, to parents Avie Lee Caroline and Robert Lee Parton Sr. in Pittman Center, Tennessee, and part of a family that included siblings Willadeene, David, Coy, Robert Jr., Stella, Cassie, Randy, Larry, Floyd and twins Freida and Rachel, all sharing space in the small home. <\/p>\n

While the site of her actual childhood property is not open to the public, Parton recreated an exact replica of the cabin at her Dollywood park in Pigeon Forge, Tennesee, for fans to visit. The replica boasts \u201coriginal treasures\u201d from the Parton family, was built by Dolly\u2019s brother Bobby, and got the stamp of approval by her mother, Avie Lee.<\/p>\n

A sign outside the replicated cabin reads, \u201cThese mountains and my childhood home have a special place in my heart. They inspire my music and my life. I hope being here does the same for you! Dolly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite not being able to tour the Sevierville-area cabin, fans can still enjoy a visit to the city and see the Parton statue erected in 1987 at the Sevier County Courthouse\u2019s lawn in honor of the star, as well as other landmarks commemorating her upbringing and roots in the area. <\/p>\n

The news of Parton\u2019s death came via her nephew and longtime head of security, Bryan Seaver, who announced the news in\u00a0an Instagram video\u00a0Tuesday.<\/p>\n
