{"id":742,"date":"2026-05-29T15:16:32","date_gmt":"2026-05-29T15:16:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/metrotransitreview.com\/?p=742"},"modified":"2026-05-29T15:16:32","modified_gmt":"2026-05-29T15:16:32","slug":"bruce-springsteen-halts-gig-to-blast-newarks-delaney-hall-amid-clashes-between-anti-ice-mob-feds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/metrotransitreview.com\/?p=742","title":{"rendered":"Bruce Springsteen halts gig to blast Newark\u2019s Delaney Hall amid clashes between anti-ICE mob, feds"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Bruce Springsteen halted his gig in Washington DC to blast Newark\u2019s Delaney Hall immigration detention center \u2013 as clashes between keffiyeh-clad left-wing agitators and tooled-up ICE agents continued overnight.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/metrotransitreview.com\/?p=740\">Todd Blanche vows feds will arrest \u2018disgusting\u2019 protester who threatened to kill ICE agent\u2019s family in insane video<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Springsteen, 76, remarked before he performed his track \u201cMy City of Ruins\u201d on Wednesday during his show at Nationals Park as part of his Land of Hope and Dreams American Tour.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are immigrants being held in for-profit detention centers around the country such as Delaney Hall in my own home state of New Jersey, where our own governor has been refused access to meet with the detainees about the conditions there,\u201d Springsteen said, according to a video shared online.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is happening now,\u201d Springsteen said, which was met with boos by some members of the crowd.<\/p>\n<p>Springsteen also led the crowd in an \u201cICE out!\u201d chant, encouraging the audience to \u201cLet \u2018em hear you at the f\u2011\u2011\u2011ing White House.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are living through troubles and troubling times,\u201d he stressed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Springsteen\u2019s politically-charged track \u201cStreets of Minneapolis\u201d was among the songs he performed \u2013 which was created in response to the killings of Ren\u00e9e Good and Alex Pretti. <\/p>\n<p>He claimed ICE agents had \u201cbrought death and terror\u201d to the city but said locals \u201cstood shoulder-to-shoulder for their neighbors,\u201d the Hill reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Gestapo tactics of this president and this administration will not stand here,\u201d Springsteen said, attacking Trump once again.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the track, pictures of Good and Pretti were projected above the stage.<\/p>\n<p>Springsteen also critiqued the Supreme Court and Trump\u2019s Department of Justice during his tirade.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, keffiyeh-clad and masked left-wing agitators continue to clash with immigration agents outside the facility, which has been the center of heated protests for the past week.<\/p>\n<p>Video shared by Freedom News showed anti-ICE demonstrators blocking agents\u2019 cars outside the facility.<\/p>\n<p>At one point, the hood of an ICE vehicle almost touched a protester \u2013 before swarms of tooled-up agents charged toward the yobs.<\/p>\n<p>Agitators tried to intimidate agents \u2013 with one rabble-rouser shouting, \u201cWho are you gonna shoot b\u2014h?\u201d in a video shared by Freedom News journalist Oliya Scootercaster.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/metrotransitreview.com\/?p=738\">9 anti-ICE agitators detained during another wild night outside Newark\u2019s Delaney Hall<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy don\u2019t you go get your buddy with an AK47 to shoot me in the f\u2014in face!\u201d an agitator screamed.<\/p>\n<p>Demonstrators continued to hurl sickening chants at ICE agents, including, \u201cTake your gun and shoot yourself.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mobs also shouted, \u201cEvery cop, every fed, shoot yourself in the head.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Major clashes erupted with ICE agents turning to pepper spray in a desperate bid to disperse protesters wearing gas masks \u2013 while others clobbered demonstrators with their batons.<\/p>\n<p>During Thursday\u2019s squirmishes, some anti-ICE protesters resorted to umbrellas to shield off the tooled up immigration agents.<\/p>\n<p>New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill and DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin traded barbs on social media Thursday night over which access state officials had to the facility for inspections.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf conditions are really as good as you\u2019re claiming, then let my health inspectors do their jobs,\u201d the Democratic governor wrote on X.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTaxpayers are footing a billion-dollar bill for this facility. They deserve transparency.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But Mullin shot back that four reps with the state\u2019s health department checked out food services earlier in the day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c@ICEgov is regularly audited and inspected by external agencies to ensure that all ICE facilities comply with performance based national detention standards,\u201d he posted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll detainees are provided with proper meals, quality water, blankets, medical treatment, and have opportunities to communicate with their family members and lawyers.\u201d<\/p>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Earlier this week, Sherill claimed she was denied access to the center.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The White House has tried to downplay the clashes, which protesters say are in response to the supposedly inhumane conditions detainees inside are experiencing.<\/p>\n<p>The DHS branded Sherill\u2019s visit to the center \u201cnothing more than a political stunt\u201d while President Trump said the demonstrators were \u201call paid-for protesters\u201d during a cabinet meeting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese aren\u2019t protesters.
