Dolly Parton emotionally requested that she be laid to rest in a \u201cbeautiful bed of plush cotton,\u201d leading up to her heartbreaking death at 80.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter a life wearing heavy rhinestones, she finally deserves to be comfortable and have some rest,\u201d her nephew and head of security, Bryan Seaver, said in an Instagram video, announcing her passing Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Seaver told viewers that it was \u201can honor that is mixed with absolute pride and great sadness\u201d to share that Parton was no longer with us, but was \u201csurely met\u201d by her late husband, Carl Dean, her parents, Avie Lee Caroline\u00a0and Robert Lee Parton Sr, and \u201ccountless others who have watched her and longed for her to meet them in the heavens.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSadness lies with us, not with Dolly,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

Seaver praised Dolly\u2019s legacy, explaining how she \u201copened doors for generations of singers, songwriters, musicians and dreamers from every walk of life, and across every continent.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBy her example, we believed that anything was possible,\u201d he added. \u201cShe never saw a door she couldn\u2019t open and the doors she opened made and changed history.\u201d <\/p>\n

Seaver pledged that he and his family \u201cwill work diligently to ensure her spirit will live with us forever,\u201d signing off, \u201cRest in peace Aunt Dolly, Aunt Granny, Gigi. May God Bless Dolly Parton and may God bless you all. She will always love you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dolly\u2019s reps also confirmed her death, writing in a statement, \u201cA rhinestone life that shone bright enough for the world to see, Dolly will forever stand as an inspiration not only through her timeless music and prolific songwriting, but also her wit, warmth, and kindness that made us all feel like family.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to TMZ, the \u201cI Will Always Love You\u201d songstress was hospitalized with \u201ckidney and autoimmune issues\u201d\u00a0at Nashville\u2019s Vanderbilt University Medical Center days before her death.<\/p>\n

Her passing comes days after she gave a health update Friday, telling People that she didn\u2019t pay attention to her \u201cissues\u201d when she was watching over her husband, who died at 82 in March 2025.<\/p>\n

Dolly was scheduled to appear at her Tennessee theme park Dollywood Aug. 14 but was ordered by a doctor not to travel.<\/p>\n

The \u201c9 to 5\u201d singer was open about her ongoing health issues since September 2025, when she pulled out of attending an event\u00a0at Dollywood due to an infection.<\/p>\n

Later that month, she\u00a0pushed back her Las Vegas residency\u00a0for a \u201cfew procedures.\u201d She officially canceled the residency in May. However, Dolly reassured fans she was \u201cdoing really well.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c[Doctors] assure me that everything I have is treatable, so I\u2019m going with that,\u201d she said in a video. \u201cI just want you to know I thank you for standing by me and that I will always love you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her last public appearance was at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for her Dolly\u2019s Tennessean Travel Stop\u00a0in late June.<\/p>\n
