An unarmed New Jersey college student was fatally shot by cops after mistakenly attempting to enter a stranger\u2019s home instead of his friend\u2019s following a night of bar-hopping, according to his family.<\/p>\n

Glenn \u201cBubba\u201d Pysher, 22, was out celebrating a friend\u2019s birthday at a local bar in Upper Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, on Saturday night when the group decided it was time to move the party to the friend\u2019s house, his mother, Erin Pysher, told WPVI. <\/p>\n

Pysher decided to walk to his pal\u2019s house \u2014 but instead \u201cended up at the wrong house after having a few drinks,\u201d she told the outlet. <\/p>\n

\u201cHe ended up at the wrong house after having a few drinks. He didn\u2019t know that, so he was knocking on the door saying, \u2018Hey, let me in.\u2019 Thinking it was his friend\u2019s house, but it wasn\u2019t,\u201d his mother said.<\/p>\n

Just before 12:30 a.m., local cops rushed to respond to a 911 call of a possible attempted break-in at the residence where Pysher attempted to enter, according to the Montgomery District Attorney\u2019s Office. <\/p>\n

The couple inside the home had gotten startled and called police, the outlet reported. <\/p>\n

Cops found Pysher in the rear of the residence, where an \u201cencounter ensued\u201d \u2014 leading officers to fatally shoot him, authorities said. <\/p>\n

\u201c12:32, he was on the phone with his friends. By 12:35, I believe he\u2019s already shot. So, within a few minutes, the cop pulled up and shot him. He was unarmed. He had a cell phone and a book bag,\u201d his devastated mom said.<\/p>\n

Pysher was a \u201cwonderful young man\u201d who was set to start classes at Saint Elizabeth University in New Jersey on Monday. <\/p>\n

He had recently transferred to the school and was slated to play on their baseball team, his family told the local outlets.<\/p>\n

When off the field, the college student was a \u201clovable goofball,\u201d his heartbroken mother told WPVI. <\/p>\n

\u201cHe will walk in the back door and say his favorite thing, \u2018Hey mom, your favorite kid is home.\u2019 He was just happy-go-lucky. Didn\u2019t have a care in the world, and I\u2019m going to miss that,\u201d Erin Pysher said.<\/p>\n

It is not yet clear why officers opened fire at Pysher. The deadly shooting was caught on surveillance cameras in the backyard of the property, and the footage is part of the investigation, the outlet reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo see someone that has so much potential because he was so excited about going back to school, lose their life, it hurts,\u201d a family friend, Kia, told Fox 29. \u201cHe was an amazing soul, young man, never got in any trouble, well-respected.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat happened? Could it have been de-escalated? We don\u2019t know, but we want to figure that out,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The Montgomery County Detective\u2019s Bureau is investigating the shooting, the district attorney\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n
