A Brazilian tourist in Italy was shocked and appalled after waitstaff at a restaurant instructed the chef to \u201cspit\u201d in her food as an alleged goof.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m still in shock, I can\u2019t believe this happened to me,\u201d victim Maria Clara told local media.<\/p>\n

Clara\u00a0and her family had been visiting the Victor Lab, a restaurant on the Viale Ceccarini in Romagna, Italy on August 19th, La Voce di Cesenatico\u00a0reported.<\/p>\n

She ordered a seemingly normal vacation breakfast of scrambled eggs, juice, and coffee, but things got off to a rocky start after the scramble arrived and the diner noticed that it was a bit runny.<\/p>\n

When Clara politely asked her server if she could have \u201cthe eggs a little more cooked,\u201d he scoffed that they \u201cdon\u2019t make raw eggs here,\u201d she claimed.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the end, they arrived very soft, but I didn\u2019t ask for them to be recooked,\u201d the customer recalled. \u201cI let it go because I didn\u2019t want to argue,\u201d\u00a0Clara said that her order came with a salad even though she asked them to hold it, local media reported.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s when Clara noticed a horrifying message on her receipt, which she included in a one-star Google review of Victor Lab. It read: \u201cThis is pissing me off. Burn the eggs and spit in them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Initially thinking it was a \u201cjoke,\u201d she said the family became \u201cscared\u201d over the possibility of their food getting seasoned with expectorate and flagged the managers.<\/p>\n

She said that this made the culprit \u2014 a 17-year-old server \u2014 go \u201cwhite\u201d and get \u201cvery nervous.\u201d Hoping to save face \u2014 and perhaps his job \u2014 the stammering lad \u201capologized and said it was a joke between him and the chef,\u201d Clara recounted.<\/p>\n

He even tried to throw the receipt away, but she threatened to call the police if he did so.<\/p>\n

The restaurant subsequently apologized to Clara under her review. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe behavior you reported was absolutely inappropriate\u00a0and in no way reflects the values, customer service, and professional standards we strive to ensure every day,\u201d they wrote.<\/p>\n

They added that the perpetrator was a teen who had been employed for a few weeks, but said that this \u201cdoes not diminish the gravity of what happened.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, the signals became somewhat mixed after Victor Lab uploaded a video to their TikTok account that appeared to poke fun at the incident. <\/p>\n

In it, the restaurant owner portrayed a demanding customer who orders a dish with \u201cspit.\u201d<\/p>\n

There was also a poll inquiring whether the 17-year-old server should be canned.<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes it almost makes you laugh when you watch it, but this isn\u2019t a laughing matter.\u00a0
It\u2019s serious,\u201d said Clara, who asked that they keep her last name under wraps as she has received death threats and racist insults. <\/p>\n
