PLYMOUTH, Mass. \u2014 Lindsay Clancy was back in court Monday morning for the fifth week of her high-profile murder trial for strangling her three young kids.<\/p>\n

The case is expected to wind down this week with closing arguments potentially slated to begin as early as Monday or Tuesday. The jury could start their deliberations this week.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors are currently putting on a rebuttal case to counter defense testimony that the 36-year-old Duxbury, Massachusetts mother should not be held criminally responsible because she was allegedly in the throes of severe postpartum psychosis and hearing voices when she carried out the slayings.<\/p>\n

Psychiatrist Dr. Avram Mack \u2013 who began testifying Friday as the first rebuttal witness \u2013 has claimed that Clancy wasn\u2019t suffering from psychosis and she knew that what she was doing was wrong.<\/p>\n

Monday morning, Clancy\u2019s lawyer, Kevin Reddington, began cross-examining Mack seeking to discredit his expertise in testifying about criminal responsibility.<\/p>\n

Lindsay Clancy’s lawyer just laid into psychiatrist Dr. Avram Mack for smirking while he was testifying about different types of mental evaluations.<\/p>\n

“What are you smiling for? This is not funny, sir,” defense attorney Kevin Reddington said to Mack.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors objected and the judge sustained the objection.<\/p>\n

Reddington also accused Mack of having a confirmatory bias by the fact he was hired by prosecutors to evaluate Clancy’s criminal responsibility.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have a confirmatory bias \u2026 you had read all this material, you\u2019ve spoken to prosecutors, you talked to [psychiatrist] Kirk Heilburn about how you\u2019re going to go in and evaluate Lindsay Clancy right?\u201d Reddington said.<\/p>\n

“No,” Mack responded.<\/p>\n

Reddington then asked Mack how much he makes as a forensic psychiatrist.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt ranges\u2026 it can be several hundreds of thousands of dollars, it can be a few,\u201d Mack said.<\/p>\n

Redding grilled Dr. Avram Mack about the fact that he only evaluated Clancy years after she killed her kids.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a significant passage of time between January 2023 and when you saw her a few months ago,” Reddington said.<\/p>\n

He then began to ask Mack about where he stayed in Massachusetts when he conducted the exams in April 2026.<\/p>\n

“Did you stay in a hotel, in a van, where did you stay?” Reddington asked, drawing chuckles from the gallery.<\/p>\n

Mack said he stayed in a private home and Reddington asked if another psychiatrist who joined Mack for the evaluations also stayed at the private home.<\/p>\n

“I don’t know,” Mack answered, to gasps from courtroom attendees.<\/p>\n

“You don’t know?” Reddington said.<\/p>\n

“He didn’t stay there, that’s for sure,” Mack said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n

Psychiatrist Dr. Avram Mack is back on the witness stand as Lindsay Clancy’s lawyer, William Sullivan, has begun his cross-examination.<\/p>\n

Mack on Friday told the jury he thought that Clancy was aware of the wrongfulness of strangling her three kids and therefore should be held criminally liable for their murders.<\/p>\n

But Sullivan asked Mack how many times he’d testified regarding criminal responsibility in the past.<\/p>\n
