Hayden Panettiere\u2019s neighbor saw the late actress being taken out of her Los Angeles apartment on a gurney by firefighters on two occasions during her tumultuous relationship with Brian Hickerson.<\/p>\n

Mia Terrazas \u2014 who still lives at the same West Hollywood complex \u2014 told Page Six in an exclusive interview about the incidents, which took place on July 29, 2023, and January 16, 2024. We have reviewed evidence that appears to corroborate those dates.<\/p>\n

Terrazas claimed she observed \u201cbright red spots\u201d and \u201cbruises\u201d on Panettiere \u2014 whose years-long relationship with Hickerson\u00a0was marred by multiple allegations of domestic violence, several arrests and even criminal pleas\u00a0\u2014 and that he was present and \u201cglued to\u201d her both times.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt appeared that she had been beaten up. It wasn\u2019t apparent to me that it could have been anything else,\u201d Terrazas said, adding that Panettiere allegedly often looked \u201cbattered.\u201d<\/p>\n

Terrazas\u2019 daughter, Vileena Koneru \u2014 who lived with her mother at the time \u2014 told us she observed the same.<\/p>\n

During the 2023 incident, Terrazas said she asked Panettiere while she was on the gurney whether she was OK. The \u201cHeroes\u201d star allegedly replied, \u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Koneru told us she was present for the 2024 incident, too. She and Terrazas said they tried to raise \u201cconcerns\u201d with the responding firefighters both times.<\/p>\n

Reps for the Los Angeles County Fire Department Station 7 did not respond to Page Six\u2019s request for comment, and we cannot confirm whether the incidents were domestic in nature.<\/p>\n

In addition to the gurney incidents, Terrazas claimed to us she often heard \u201cmuffled arguments\u201d coming from Panettiere\u2019s nearby unit, adding, \u201cYou can tell somebody\u2019s arguing just by the tonality. \u2026 It was very hostile.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also claimed she once heard the \u201cRemember the Titans\u201d star \u201cscreaming\u201d at Hickerson, 37, in the elevator, \u201cJust leave me alone! Just stop!\u201d though it\u2019s unclear what exactly happened in the elevator.<\/p>\n

In July 2020, Los Angeles prosecutors filed an eight-count case against Hickerson, including multiple felony counts of corporal injury, assault with a deadly weapon, battery and dissuading a witness. He initially pleaded not guilty, but in April 2021, he pleaded no contest to two felony counts of injuring a spouse or cohabitant, while the remaining charges were dismissed.<\/p>\n

Hickerson was sentenced to 45 days in jail, four years of probation, domestic violence classes and restitution, while Panettiere was granted a five-year protective order, which expired this past April.<\/p>\n

Terrazas told us she saw Hickerson at the apartment complex during that time despite the active protective order, so she called the Los Angeles County Sheriff\u2019s Department \u201cquite a few times\u201d to report it.<\/p>\n

She claimed deputies \u201cremoved\u201d Hickerson from the property at least once but that she saw him back there the next day.<\/p>\n

Terrazas didn\u2019t understand how Hickerson could legally be on the premises, but the sheriff\u2019s department allegedly explained to her that he and Panettiere kept coming back together despite deputies\u2019 efforts to separate them.<\/p>\n

\u201cI understood their point,\u201d Terrazas acknowledged. \u201cI just kept calling because I was hoping I would get a different answer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reps for the Los Angeles County Sheriff\u2019s Department did not respond to Page Six\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n

In August 2025, the building\u2019s homeowners association posted flyers warning residents of Hickerson \u201ctrespassing\u201d\u2018 on the property. They were encouraged to call 911 if they saw him in the common areas or hallways.<\/p>\n

A momentarily relieved Terrazas told us she was confused and upset when the notices \u201cmysteriously\u201d came down after about a week. She tried reposting them, but the HOA allegedly explained to her that \u201cBrian\u2019s no longer a threat\u201d because he\u2019s going to \u201cdrug rehab.\u201d (Hickerson claimed he checked himself into a treatment program sometime in 2022, but we were unable to locate any records of a 2025 rehab stay.)<\/p>\n

Reps for the HOA did not respond to Page Six\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n

Hickerson and Panettiere openly discussed their struggles with alcoholism and drug addiction. While Terrazas \u201cnever saw them actually doing any type of drugs,\u201d she told us it was \u201cpretty apparent sometimes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBrian always seemed to be high or disconnected. He just kind of had this odd, flat effect, I guess I could describe it as,\u201d Terrazas claimed. \u201cHayden sometimes would seem out of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Terrazas added she was \u201cterrified\u201d of Hickerson given both his well-documented history of domestic violence and the time he allegedly \u201cfollowed\u201d her down the stairs in her building.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m 61. I\u2019m moving really slow down those stairs, and he\u2019s just right behind me. Didn\u2019t pass me up or anything. And I thought, \u2018Is that to intimidate me?’\u201d she wondered.<\/p>\n

Terrazas became emotional when telling us Panettiere \u201cseemed like a different person\u201d when she was around Hickerson, lamenting that the \u201cNashville\u201d star was \u201cvery subdued\u201d in his presence.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was just so lovely \u2026 and just seeing her and passing frequently and, you know, the little chats that I had with her \u2014 she made such an impression, and she was such a bright light,\u201d Terrazas shared as she started to cry.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust as a human being. Never mind the talent; she was a human being, you know? And she deserved so much better. I felt\u00a0everybody just used her up, and she just deserved better. \u2026 I just wish I could have done more. I just can\u2019t believe I\u2019ll never see her again.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hickerson\u2019s attorney declined to comment on this story when reached by Page Six.<\/p>\n

Panettiere and Hickerson, who is from South Carolina, flew there together last Saturday. She died of a suspected \u201coverdose,\u201d according to the Greenville Police Department dispatch, at an Airbnb in Greenville the following day at age 36.<\/p>\n

Hickerson\u00a0subsequently showed responding officers a \u201cbag of medication\u201d\u00a0she had allegedly been taking.<\/p>\n

His brother Zach Hickerson, who was also on the scene, went on to claim to TMZ that Brian administered Narcan \u2014 an emergency medication used to reverse an opioid overdose \u2014 after waking up from a nap in the bedroom and finding Panettiere \u201cunresponsive\u201d in a chair in the living room.<\/p>\n

Zach, 38, added that he and Brian \u201cjointly performed CPR\u201d until emergency medical personnel arrived.<\/p>\n

First responders \u201cinitiated advanced cardiac life support measures,\u201d but their \u201cresuscitation efforts were unsuccessful,\u201d and Panettiere was pronounced dead within 45 minutes, per the Greenville County Coroner\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

According to the autopsy report, \u201cno signs of trauma were discovered\u00a0that would have contributed to the death.\u201d However, the investigation \u2014 which did not initially indicate \u201cany signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances\u201d \u2014 remains \u201cactive and ongoing\u201d as the coroner awaits toxicology results to determine the cause and manner of her death.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile an investigation is ongoing and further developments are coming to light, we are confident that justice will soon be served,\u201d Panettiere\u2019s rep told Page Six when reached for comment on this story.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Brian broke his silence on her death and associated investigation on Thursday, telling us via his attorney, \u201cHayden\u2019s death remains under investigation, and it is important to allow that investigation to proceed.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs has been publicly reported, police confirmed there were no signs of foul play. Out of respect for Hayden\u2019s loved ones and the ongoing investigation, there will be no further comment at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n

In May of this year, Panettiere spoke publicly about her on-off relationship with Brian, which began in 2018.<\/p>\n

In both her memoir, \u201cThis Is Me: A Reckoning,\u201d and the book\u2019s accompanying press tour, she explained that every time she \u201cfound the strength to get away from [her] abusers,\u201d they would \u201calways find their way back into [her] life.\u201d<\/p>\n

The former child star went on to say Brian would become violent when under the influence, sober up and apologize, leaving her in a \u201cdizzying cycle\u201d because being \u201calone\u201d admittedly scared her more than \u201ctolerat[ing] abuse.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brian, for his part, did not deny Panettiere\u2019s specific allegations. Instead, he broadly confessed in a subsequent interview with TMZ that he\u00a0was abusive toward her, struggled with addiction and regretted how he treated her.<\/p>\n

However, as recently as June, the aspiring actor made a chilling comment to an Instagram user who asked him, \u201cSome woman dates you???\u201d<\/p>\n

Brian replied, \u201cYes, its wonderful if she gets out of line I just Google myself and say hey stop it this is what I\u2019m allegedly capable of.\u201d<\/p>\n
