{"id":6987,"date":"2026-08-20T08:07:49","date_gmt":"2026-08-20T08:07:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/metrotransitreview.com\/?p=6987"},"modified":"2026-08-20T08:07:49","modified_gmt":"2026-08-20T08:07:49","slug":"illegal-immigrant-19-killed-co-worker-he-had-intimate-relationship-with-near-virginia-trail-tried-to-set-her-body-on-fire-police","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/metrotransitreview.com\/?p=6987","title":{"rendered":"Illegal immigrant, 19, killed co-worker he had &#8216;intimate&#8217; relationship with near Virginia trail \u2014 tried to set her body on fire: police"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>A 19-year-old illegal immigrant from El Salvador is accused of fatally stabbing a female co-worker he had an \u201cintimate relationship\u201d with \u2014 then dousing her body in gasoline near a Virginia trail.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/metrotransitreview.com\/?p=6985\">Penn State frat bro thought he was being pranked during cocaine ring bust \u2014 then cops tasered him<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Alexis Antonio Cedillos-Campos was arrested Wednesday for killing 42-year-old Carmen Lizet Puch, who was described as a \u201cloving mother of a 3-year-old girl,\u201d Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis announced at a press conference.<\/p>\n<p>Puch was found stabbed multiple times and drenched in gasoline in the parking lot of Difficult Run Park in Great Falls, about 15 miles outside Washington, DC, on Monday. <\/p>\n<p>Davis said investigators found that Cedillos-Campos and Puch worked together at Bitez restaurant \u2014 a Halal-focused eatery in Herndon, Va. \u2014 and determined the two had been in an \u201cintimate relationship\u201d before the killing.<\/p>\n<p>Detectives are still working to understand the full picture \u2014 including whether other relationships may have contributed to the motive.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also know that our killer left the restaurant on the night of the murder with a fixed-blade knife that he took from the restaurant,\u201d Davis said, adding that Cedillos-Campos also took a pair of latex gloves and a water bottle from the establishment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have video footage of our suspect at the restaurant where he worked with our victim, arming himself with a fixed blade knife, taking a pair of black latex gloves, taking a water bottle, and then off he goes with the intent to do harm and kill the victim.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll very premeditated,\u201d the chief added.<\/p>\n<p>Davis said that Cedillos-Campos siphoned gas from a motorcycle and filled the water bottle in a failed attempt to set her body on fire after stabbing her \u201crepeatedly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe way that she was treated by this killer was reprehensible,\u201d Davis said.<\/p>\n<p>Police said a jogger called 911 after finding Puch lying next to her 2011 Honda Civic in a small gravel parking lot near the trail at around 6:45 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>Cedillos-Campos was arrested in Maryland on Wednesday morning and is awaiting extradition to Virginia, according to Davis.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/metrotransitreview.com\/?p=6983\">Trump announces \u2018Economic D-Day\u2019 against Iran: \u2018Most crushing economic operation ever taken\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Davis noted that the 19-year-old has confessed to the killing and is cooperating with the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Cedillos-Campos was arrested by Border Patrol agents in April 2024 after he illegally crossed into the US near El Paso, Texas, during the Biden administration, according to the Department of Homeland Security.<\/p>\n<p>He was taken into custody by Customs and Border Protection but later released.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBiden and Mayorkas hand-delivered alleged killer Cedillos-Campos to the streets of Fairfax County,\u201d a DHS spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey recklessly unleashed millions of unvetted illegal aliens into American communities and abused the law to do so.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Davis said his detectives are prioritizing interviewing witnesses, friends, family and coworkers and that Cedillos-Campos\u2019s \u201cimmigration status plays no role in how they conduct their investigations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The investigation into Puch\u2019s murder is ongoing.<\/p>\n<p>Bitez owner Abdul Anwari told NBC Washington he was shaken to learn of Puch\u2019s murder.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know if you can process something like this. It\u2019s not something you expect.
