\u201cHeroes\u201d star Hayden Panettiere was beaming in a playful snap with her pal that she shared weeks before her death at the age of 36.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The New York-born actress winked and stuck her tongue out in the close-up black and white picture taken with her photographer friend Randall Slavin.<\/p>\n

Slavin had his arm wrapped around Panettiere and her arm was resting on his shoulders.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cGood times and good friends,\u201d she captioned the July 27 snap.<\/p>\n

Panettiere\u2019s sudden death was announced by her father Skip Sunday night.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her \u2014 and to the millions who watched her onscreen,\u201d he said in a statement to Page Six.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe ask for privacy as our family takes time to process this unimaginable loss.\u201d<\/p>\n

A cause of death has yet to be revealed, but a source close to the actress told TMZ she had been complaining about back pain during the past year.<\/p>\n

The outlet also reported that Panettiere and her on-again, off-again boyfriend Brian Hickerson had boarded a flight out of Los Angeles on Saturday. Hickerson\u2019s family is said to be aware of Panettiere\u2019s death, according to TMZ sources.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Panettiere leaves behind her 11-year-old daughter Kaya, whom she shared with the former heavyweight boxer Wladimir Klitschko.<\/p>\n

She gave birth to Kaya in 2014 before relinquishing custody of her only child amid her struggles with addiction and postpartum depression in 2018.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, it was the worst signing those [custody] papers, the most heartbreaking thing I\u2019ve ever, ever had to do in my life,\u201d she told \u201cRed Table Talk\u201d in September 2022.<\/p>\n

Klitschko has not yet spoken out about her death.<\/p>\n

\u201cNashville\u201d star Panettiere, born in August 1989, starred in commercials as a child before landing gigs on soap operas like \u201cOne Life to Live\u201d in 1994 and \u201cGuiding Light\u201d in 1997. <\/p>\n

\u201cMy introduction to acting was actually at 11 months old,\u201d Panettiere told \u201cEntertainment Tonight\u201d in 2023.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cPlayskool Toy Train was my first commercial, but, I don\u2019t know if that would really be an introduction to acting, because I don\u2019t think acting was involved at that point. I didn\u2019t have lines, I was just playing.\u201d<\/p>\n

She was best known for her roles as cheerleader Claire Bennet on \u201cHeroes\u201d and country music star Juliette Barnes on \u201cNashville.\u201d<\/p>\n

Panettiere played Kirby Reed in the 2011 film \u201cScream 4,\u201d a role she would reprise in \u201cScream VI\u201d in 2023.<\/p>\n

She also starred in the comedy drama \u201cAlly McBeal\u201d in 2002, and \u201cI Love You, Beth Cooper\u201d in 2009.<\/p>\n

Her final credited acting role came in the Brandon Auman psychological thriller \u201cSleepwalker,\u201d which was released in January and starred Justin Chatwin and Beverly D\u2019Angelo.<\/p>\n
