Gillian Anderson is opening up about her \u201cillicit\u201d relationship with another girl.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe X-Files\u201d alum \u2014 who moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan, from London when she was 11 \u2014 revealed that one of her first relationships was with \u201can older girl in high school.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt felt secretive and illicit and wrong and we had to hide,\u201d she told the Sunday Times in an article published Sunday. \u201cLater on, I had a boyfriend who found out and broke up with me.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Anderson, now 58, said she didn\u2019t think she was gay because she\u2019d \u201chad a couple of boyfriends.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I definitely felt I didn\u2019t have the language for it,\u201d she reflected. \u201cEven later on when I had other relationships [with women] I\u2019m not sure I ever thought of them as being potentially forever.\u201d<\/p>\n

Anderson has been linked to \u201cThe Crown\u201d creator Peter Morgan off and on for a decade, but they\u2019ve never confirmed their relationship.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe person I consider my life partner happens to be male, but I think I would feel the same way if it were a woman,\u201d she told the outlet. \u201cI\u2019d feel, \u2018This is my life partner.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cWhen I was younger, there were parts of my brain that thought [women] were temporary.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actress looked back at her childhood and said she\u2019s been to therapy with her mom.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was getting into gay bars and dancing at 12 with a fake ID,\u201d she recalled. \u201cI had the conversation with my mum about the things that were allowed. I was such a strong-willed child she would say there was no telling me, and she\u2019s right.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut next was a boyfriend who was so much older \u2014 I was 15 and he was 24,\u201d she continued. \u201cWe were together for three years.\u201d<\/p>\n

Anderson has been married twice. She was married to \u201cThe X-Files\u201d assistant art director Clyde Klotz from 1994 to 1997, and the documentary filmmaker Julian Ozanne from 2004 to 2006.<\/p>\n

She and Klotz share daughter Piper, 31, and she also shares two teenage sons \u2014 Oscar, 19, and Felix, 17 \u2014 with her ex, businessman Mark Griffiths. The two dated from 2006 to 2012.<\/p>\n

Back in 2012, Anderson referenced her past high school relationship with a girl and why her later relationships raised eyebrows.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was in a relationship with a girl for a long time when I was in high school,\u201d Anderson told Out magazine.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen I was in a relationship with a punk rock drug addict,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd then I was in a relationship with somebody who was way, way older than me. Everything that that kind of anarchistic attitude brings \u2014 the inappropriate behavior it leads to \u2014 was how I chose to be in the world at that time, which was, you know, not what people did.\u201d<\/p>\n

Anderson added: \u201cBased on how I chose to look, dress, behave, you know \u2014 the relationships I was in at the time were freaking people out.\u201d<\/p>\n
