Radical House group could double in size \u2014 and influence \u2014 come November"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>The House of Representatives\u2019 socialist \u201cSquad\u201d could soon start looking more like a platoon.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/metrotransitreview.com\/?p=6678\">Mark Cuban delivers brutal reality check on California billionaire tax: \u2018Ideology is not a strategy\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p>With a wave of far-left candidates winning recent Democratic primaries across the country, the radical group is certain to expand \u2014 and wield far greater influence \u2014 after the November elections, critics say.<\/p>\n<p>The Squad will likely go from seven current members to 14.<\/p>\n<p>Two virtually guaranteed additions after the midterms are, like \u201cSquad\u201d founder AOC, from the Big Apple.<\/p>\n<p>Claire Valdez \u2014 who vowed to implement nationwide\u00a0rent control\u00a0if elected to Congress \u2014 easily won the primary in June for New York\u2019s 7th House District and the general election is considered a formality in the blue district that includes Bushwick and other parts of Brooklyn being labeled the \u201cCommie Corridor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Darializa Chevalier, 32, is a radical who attended an anti-Israel rally the day after the Oct. 7 attacks by Hamas. She has said the US committed worse atrocities than Hamas and echoed Kremlin talking points that blamed the US for Russia\u2019s invasion of Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>She won her primary in June and is considered a shoo-in to win New York\u2019s 10th Congressional District, which represents Harlem.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere across the country, other prospective \u201cSquad\u201d members include: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Melat Kiros, a 29-year-old Gen Z socialist who knocked off a 15-term establishment Democrat in Colorado \u2014 reminiscent of AOC\u2019s defeat of longtime Queens incumbent Joe Crowley.<\/li>\n<li>Adam Hamawy, an AOC-endorsed Princeton plastic surgeon, who won his primary in an overwhelmingly Democratic New Jersey district. Hamawy, 56, who\u2019s backed by Justice Democrats, the group that helped launch AOC, traveled with Omar Abdel-Rahman, the \u201cBlind Sheikh\u201d convicted in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing plot, when he was a medical student.<\/li>\n<li>Frederick Haynes, a 65-year-old pastor from Texas, who easily won his March primary. He has positioned himself to the left of Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Tex.) and also was endorsed by Justice Democrats.<\/li>\n<li>Chris Rabb, a 56-year-old self-described Democratic Socialist who trounced establishment-backed rivals in the nation\u2019s bluest congressional district. Rabb, who has described himself as a \u201cradical\u201d and \u201crabble-rouser,\u201d was backed by AOC, the DSA and Justice Democrats, and has championed government-run grocery stores. With no Republican running, he is assured of taking the Philadelphia seat in November.<\/li>\n<li>William Lawrence, a 36-year-old Michigan activist who co-founded the radical Sunrise Movement and once gushed over Hasan Piker, telling the controversial streamer \u201cYou\u2019re the man!\u201d He clinched the primary though unlike the others, his chance of winning his swing district is a toss-up.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Traders on Polymarket put the odds of Democrats regaining control of the House at 88%. <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/metrotransitreview.com\/?p=6676\">Putin loses 43K soldiers on Ukraine battlefield in one of bloodiest months since start of war<\/a><\/p>\n<p>That means a \u201cSuper-Squad\u201d could have huge influence to pass \u2014 or tank \u2014 legislation, like a bill to abolish ICE or articles of impeachment against President Trump, like the OG Squad did in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey will not compromise,\u201d said one former House leadership aide.<\/p>\n<p>And the Democratic Party will shift further left.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s becoming a bigger part of the party,\u201d longtime GOP consultant Doug Heye told The Post. \u201cThey will be the loudest voices pushing for impeachment,\u201d he said of the radical group.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cSquad\u201d moniker first emerged after the midterms eight years ago, when Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) posted a photo on Instagram after meeting Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) during freshman orientation, along with the caption \u201cSquad.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The label stuck. <\/p>\n<p>After the group famously got into a spat with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi over Omar comparing the United States and Israel to the Taliban, President Trump regularly harnessed the nickname in his frequent rants against the gang.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe \u2018Squad\u2019 is a very racist group of troublemakers who are young, inexperienced, and not very smart. They are pulling the once great Democrat Party far left,\u201d he wrote in one series of tweets that June.<\/p>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<p>AOC has long been seen as the group\u2019s de facto gatekeeper \u2014 jokingly welcoming 82-year-old New Jersey Rep.
