President Trump bristled Monday at Big Oil\u2019s huge windfall amid the war in Iran, arguing that the country\u2019s largest oil companies should give some of their record profits to the American public.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t like it,\u201d Trump said in the Oval Office, when asked about the eye-popping earnings reported by ExxonMobil and Chevron last week.\u00a0<\/p>\n

ExxonMobil reported making $14.5 billion in the second-quarter of 2026 \u2013 double what it made over the same period of time last year \u2013\u00a0 and the $12 billion Chevron raked in was the most the company has made in a single quarter in six years.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Their soaring earnings came as the Iran war pushed oil prices at times to above $100 a barrel \u2013 and gasoline skyrocketed up to an average of $4.56 per gallon this spring.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re making too much money, okay, based on a shortage,\u201d Trump fumed.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t like it, and I should be the last one to say it because I\u2019m a big free enterprise guy,\u201d he continued. \u201cNobody bigger.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The president continued, \u201cChevron, too much money. ExxonMobil, too much money.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you look at one company where they made 12 times what they made the year before, they ought to give some of that back to the public, and they better cut the retail price, the consumer price,\u201d he argued.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll say it loud and clear. I\u2019m not happy about it,\u201d Trump declared.<\/p>\n

The president predicted that gasoline prices \u201cdrop through the floor\u201d when the US is \u201cfinished with Iran.\u201d The current price at the pump for a gallon of regular ($4.09) is nearly $1 higher than it was at the same time last year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Earlier Monday, Trump criticized Chevron CEO Mike Wirth on social media after the oil executive touted his company\u2019s efforts to ramp-up oil and gas production amid a \u201csomewhat fragile and uncertain\u201d energy market in an interview with Fox Business\u2019s \u201cSunday Morning Futures\u201d host Maria Bartiromo.<\/p>\n

\u201cMike Wirth, Chairman and CEO of Chevron, just gave, in an interview with the fabulous Maria Bartiromo, all of the reasons that his company is doing so well,\u201d Trump wrote on Truth Social. \u201cThe only thing he conveniently forgot to mention is that, without the genius, foresight, strength, and stability, of the TRUMP Administration, the Oil Industry, and our Country itself, would be DEAD!\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

\u201cAs an example, they threw Mike and Chevron out of Venezuela, but now they\u2019re back, far bigger and stronger than ever before, expecting to make a fortune!\u201d the president added. \u201cThat goes for other Oil Companies as well\u2026and get your consumer (retail!) Oil Prices DOWN, NOW!\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

In June, Trump threatened to prosecute Big Oil after the cost of crude came down but gasoline prices remained elevated.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cCustomers are being \u2018gouged,\u2019\u201d the president said, as he ordered the Justice Department to launch an investigation into oil firms.<\/p>\n

ExxonMobil and Chevron did not immediately respond to The Post\u2019s requests for comment. <\/p>\n
