That might be the one and only upside to the extraordinary events in Ceuta this week: the death, at last, of euphemism.<\/p>\n

The impossibility of any longer dressing up the West\u2019s suicidal abandonment of its borders as \u201ckindness.\u201d<\/p>\n

President Trump tried to warn us. Almost exactly a year ago, as he arrived for a golf tour in Scotland, he lamented the \u201chorrible invasion\u201d of Europe by unvetted men from overseas: Uncontrolled immigration is \u201ckilling Europe,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

As recently as this week he told Andy Burnham, Britain\u2019s new prime minister, that mass immigration is \u201ckilling your country.\u201d<\/p>\n

He\u2019s been vindicated by the events in Ceuta, a Spanish enclave at the tip of North Africa.<\/p>\n

Trashing sovereignty<\/h2>\n

The scenes are staggering: An estimated 49,000 people \u2014 mostly Moroccans, mostly men \u2014 gleefully intruded upon the territory of the Spanish kingdom.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s around the same number of people who illegally sail to Britain in a year.<\/p>\n

They scaled border gates and overwhelmed those charged with protecting Spanish lands.<\/p>\n

Viral clips show men punching the air as they swarm in, clearly thrilled with their incursion.<\/p>\n

Even the Spanish press is feeling the death of euphemism: \u201cCeuta, invaded,\u201d says the front page of ABC, a newspaper of record, alongside an image of thousands of men streaming along Ceuta\u2019s beach.<\/p>\n

The mass storming of Ceuta has focused the minds even of Spain\u2019s fatally apathetic ruling class.<\/p>\n

All of Ceuta\u2019s parties, both right and left, have called on Madrid to send in the army to reinforce the border with Morocco, and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro S\u00e1nchez promised an \u201cimmediate response.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yet even if the Spanish manage to tame this searing crisis of sovereign rule \u2014 and that\u2019s a big \u201cif\u201d \u2014 the lessons of it should reverberate not only across Spain but all of Europe.<\/p>\n

For the fall of Ceuta exposes the lethal strain in globalism.<\/p>\n

It speaks \u2014 screams in fact \u2014 to the chaotic trashing of sovereignty, democracy and our very way of life that globalism and its gold-collared acolytes have brought about.<\/p>\n

The storming of Ceuta shatters the falsehoods of the left.<\/p>\n

For years, progressives gaslit the public, insisting that the men illegally crossing our borders are \u201cvulnerable people\u201d who are \u201cseeking asylum.\u201d<\/p>\n

Like Big Brother, they expected us to reject the evidence of our eyes and ears and accept that these swaggering blokes from Eritrea or Afghanistan are the wretched of the Earth requiring our love and care and four-star hotels.<\/p>\n

Wide open<\/h2>\n

Ceuta dismantles that lie.<\/p>\n

The whole world can see there are virtually no women and children in those mobs. The whole world knows Morocco is not ravaged by war or hunger.<\/p>\n

From now on, every utterance of\u00a0\u201casylum-seeker\u201d should invoke noisy, angry skepticism.<\/p>\n

The Ceuta crisis also confirms that the moral cowardice of the modern state is like a red rag to hostile actors.<\/p>\n

It is undeniable that Pedro S\u00e1nchez\u2019s lunatic granting of asylum to illegal immigrants this year emboldened these Moroccan men to pour into soft-touch Spain.<\/p>\n

In January, S\u00e1nchez bypassed parliament and issued a royal decree to regularize virtually all \u201cundocumented migrants\u201d on Spanish territory.<\/p>\n

Almost 1.2 million illegal arrivals applied for this status, granting them the right to reside in Spain, to work there and to enjoy unfettered access to healthcare and education.<\/p>\n

S\u00e1nchez\u2019s monarchical creation of close to a million neo-\u201cSpaniards\u201d was an act of lethal folly.<\/p>\n

In throwing open residency rights and access to public services, he stripped Spanishness itself of meaning.<\/p>\n

Anyone, from anywhere, can have what you have \u2014 that, at root, was the imperious diktat.<\/p>\n

And he shone a massive green light to outsiders to try their luck with his spineless regime.<\/p>\n

Hence, Ceuta \u2014 50,000 North Africans accepting his witless, brainless invitation to come and take the piss out of Spain.<\/p>\n

The crisis is the rotten product of the death cult of globalism.<\/p>\n

A toxic combination of institutional paralysis and ideological capture by the globalist delusion has meant our leaders have willfully abandoned the first duty of the state: to protect its territory from external actors.<\/p>\n

The spirit of resignation over the crisis at our borders is staggering and depressing.<\/p>\n

Perilous apathy<\/h2>\n

In Spain, Britain, France, Germany, the cry goes out: There is nothing we can do to stem the arrival every day of scores of men from foreign countries.<\/p>\n

The fatalism is breathtaking: There is no comparable moment in history, outside of war, when nation-states have so supinely surrendered their territory to foreign actors.<\/p>\n

In Britain, too, the hard-won sovereignty of our nation has been sacrificed at the altar of globalism.<\/p>\n

Over the past seven days, 1,487 people, primarily men, have arrived illegally in small boats.<\/p>\n

And what is the UK\u2019s new PM Andy Burnham doing? Making videos of himself eating pork rinds and yammering about The Smiths.<\/p>\n

This is not normal. Every leader in British history, every one of our ancestors, would have considered this a horrific state of affairs that throttled the dignity of the nation and the security of its people.<\/p>\n

And yet we\u2019re told to see it as normal, or at least unavoidable: part and parcel of life in a globalized world.<\/p>\n

Resisting the perilous apathy of our rulers, their lethal inertia on the sovereign integrity of the nation, is the most pressing task of our time.<\/p>\n

For make no mistake \u2014 our rulers\u2019 abandonment of our borders is a direct attack on us.<\/p>\n

They\u2019re essentially saying there is nothing about the Spanish way of life, or the British way of life, that is worth defending.<\/p>\n

Your country, your communities, your history, your citizenship, your welfare state \u2014 it is all so spectacularly worthless that it isn\u2019t even worth putting a fence around it to protect it from outsiders.<\/p>\n
