The 11th Circuit jurist \u2014 who is not named or identified by gender \u2014 got down and dirty with the uniformed cop during working hours in their private chambers for two years, leaving little to the imagination.<\/p>\n

Details about the dirty courthouse dalliance in which the judge was given a \u201cprivate reprimand\u201d and ordered to write letters of apology to six law clerks.<\/p>\n

At least three former clerks operations-wide overheard the encounters, which staff members said distracted them from work and made them highly uncomfortable.<\/p>\n

The sounds of intimacy were so unsettling that one clerk reported being unable to sleep or focus, while another clerk was so deeply disturbed by what they heard that they actually packed up and .\u00a0<\/p>\n

Clerks also discovered what appeared to be a semen stain on the couch in the judge\u2019s chambers, however, it tested negative.<\/p>\n

\u201cLaw Clerk A was concerned about how the Subject Judge\u2019s conduct, if it came to light publicly, might adversely affect the public\u2019s view of the judiciary,\u201d reads the report.<\/p>\n

\u201cLaw Clerk C said that the clerk was made \u2018very uncomfortable\u2019 by what the clerk heard coming from the judge\u2019s office,\u201d it continued.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cLaw Clerk B stated that the clerk was so unsettled by the noises the clerk heard that the clerk had to leave the office for the day.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 11th Circuit covers districts in Florida, Georgia and Alabama.<\/p>\n

The judicial complaint, from February, was later confirmed by the Committee on Judicial Conduct and Disability of the Judicial Conference of the US on Friday.<\/p>\n

The officer is a \u201chigh-ranking\u201d division commander within the judge\u2019s district, which left the judge vulnerable to extortion because their spouse was not aware of the affair, the committee said.<\/p>\n

It also raised the possibility of a conflict of interest because the police department was involved in civil and criminal litigation in the district.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlthough the special committee did not find any instance of the subject judge presiding over a case in which either the officer or the police department was a party or a witness, the special committee found that this was due to \u2018happenstance\u2019 rather than the subject judge\u2019s efforts to mitigate any potential conflict,\u201d the committee said.<\/p>\n

The report also noted that the judge initially denied the affair, slamming the allegations as \u201coutrageous\u201d and \u201cbaseless\u201d \u2014 before eventually \u2018fessing up.<\/p>\n

In addition to the wrist-slap reprimand, the judge has agreed to forgo serving as chief judge and avoid serving on any judicial conference committee.<\/p>\n
