Mayor Zohran Mamdani has doubled down on his \u201cEat the rich\u201d campaign by publishing a list of hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers guilty of . . . owning an apartment.<\/p>\n

The city Department of Finance released an \u201cenemies list\u201d of property owners who might<\/em> be covered by the new non-resident \u201cpied-a-terre\u201d tax \u2014 a kind of one-stop class-warfare shopping list for antifa radicals looking for targets.<\/p>\n

Mind you, publicizing the list serves no good purpose: The city is mailing all these owners asking them to clarify if they don\u2019t <\/em>qualify for the new tax, so this publicity isn\u2019t about informing them, it\u2019s about scaring <\/em>them.<\/p>\n

Worse: As the DoF website admits, the list \u201cis not limited to, those properties that may be subject to the surcharge,\u201d meaning most <\/em>of the list isn\u2019t relevant to the new tax. <\/p>\n

Above all, many people on the list are<\/em> the primary residents of the homes they own, which can be a condo or coop that would sell at $1 million or more \u2014 which includes a ton of one-bedroom<\/em> pads in today\u2019s market. <\/p>\n

Too bad for you if your modest residence is now a target for some anarchist disgruntled about his own poor station in life.<\/p>\n

Worse yet, the whole thing is slapdash, blatantly generated with no human bothering to examine it.<\/p>\n

Consider: Who\u2019s not paying their \u201cfair share\u201d on the $37 million brownstone at 1033 Fifth Ave., across the street from the Metropolitan Museum of Art? Why, the Islamic Republic of Iran, that\u2019s who \u2014 and many other tax-exempt diplomatic buildings also made the list. <\/p>\n

Why did no one at City Hall stop this amateur-hour idiocy? <\/p>\n

Because the Democratic Socialist crew is obsessed <\/em>with naming and shaming their \u201cclass enemies\u201d: As national DSA co-chair Megan Romer explained on Fox News Sunday, \u201cWe will win by making conditions so intolerable to the ruling class that they would rather give in to our demands than live with the disturbance we cause.\u201d<\/p>\n
