Marvel Studios revealed Ryan Gosling as the next Ghost Rider and David Jonsson as the new Black Panther in two casting bombshells at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday<\/p>\n

Gosling, 45, the three-time Oscar nominee known for \u201cBarbie\u201d and \u201cLa La Land,\u201d will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a standalone \u201cGhost Rider\u201d movie, which is scheduled to be released in 2028.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs you know, this is a character I\u2019ve wanted to play for a long time,\u201d Gosling told the crowd after being unveiled as Ghost Rider to thunderous cheers inside Hall H.<\/p>\n

The \u201cGhost Rider\u201d film reunites Gosling with director Shawn Levy and writer Jonathan Tropper after the upcoming \u201cStar Wars: Starfighter.\u201d<\/p>\n

Levy, who also directed the blockbuster \u201cDeadpool & Wolverine,\u201d told fans, \u201cI\u2019m having the greatest flashback vibes here, because I was here two years ago when we showed \u2018Deadpool & Wolverine.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cGosling is the absolute s\u2014. I say that with tremendous respect. We spent a lot of time last year making \u2018Starfighter,\u2019 and the opportunity as Ryan started talking about this character, I was like, \u2018Bro let\u2019s ride.\u2019 We\u2019ll see you in 2028!\u201d<\/p>\n

Nicolas Cage, 62, famously played motorcycle stuntman Johnny Blaze in 2007\u2019s \u201cGhost Rider\u201d before returning for 2011\u2019s \u201cGhost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gosling\u2019s longtime partner, Eva Mendes, 52, starred opposite Cage in the original movie as Roxanne Simpson but did not return for the sequel. It\u2019s not yet known whether she\u2019ll reprise the role.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Jonsson, 32, the breakout star of \u201cAlien: Romulus,\u201d will play an adult version of T\u2019Challa\u2019s son and inherit the Black Panther mantle in \u201cBlack Panther 3.\u201d<\/p>\n

Director Ryan Coogler revealed the sequel will hit theaters Dec. 15, 2028.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you to this amazing family that I have the honor and privilege and the blessing to join,\u201d Jonsson said from the stage, drawing Wakanda chants from the crowd.<\/p>\n

The character was introduced in the closing moments of \u201cBlack Panther: Wakanda Forever,\u201d which revealed that the late Chadwick Boseman\u2019s T\u2019Challa had a young son with Nakia, played by Lupita Nyong\u2019o.<\/p>\n

Boseman, who was set to reprise his role in a planned sequel before his death, died in 2020 at age 43 after a private battle with colon cancer.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Ryan Reynolds, 49, sparked fresh speculation about his Marvel future when he popped up in the Comic-Con crowd as the star-studded cast of \u201cAvengers: Doomsday\u201d was onstage, wearing Deadpool\u2019s gray suit from the X-Force comics.<\/p>\n

Although Reynolds has not been announced for \u201cAvengers: Doomsday,\u201d he joked that his name was Ricky and that he was \u201ccosplaying hard,\u201d adding fuel to rumors that Deadpool could appear in the upcoming Marvel blockbuster.<\/p>\n
