OCEAN SPRINGS, Mississippi \u2013\u2013 Nolan Wells\u2019 self-described \u201cbest friend,\u201d who was on the fateful Fourth of July boat trip with him before he went missing, has spoken out for the first time about rumors blaming him for the tragic teen\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

Wells, 18, vanished during the visit to Horn Island, ten miles off Mississippi\u2019s Gulf Coast, and was found dead two days later.<\/p>\n

Questions from Wells\u2019 parents and online amateur sleuths have dogged the teenage football star\u2019s pals \u2014 about why they left him behind and why they were allegedly in possession of his phone and keys.<\/p>\n

Speaking for the first time since Wells death, Warren Hudson \u2013\u2013 who was among those on the boat trip with him \u2013\u2013 exclusively told The Post about the \u201churtful\u201d claims that he was responsible for his friend\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a sick world we\u2019re living in,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s terrible. Nolan was my best friend.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no facts out, just a lot of rumors. That\u2019s just how the internet is today. That\u2019s really it, it\u2019s horrible.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hudson\u2019s mom, Ashlee Cole, said in a statement released July 7 that Wells\u2019 friends returned to the mainland after their boat had a problem with its bilge pump.<\/p>\n

\u201cNolan made a decision to stay on the island and return inland later with another group of friends,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n

Cole, a judge in Jackson County, denied claims that her family had been trying to \u201champer\u201d the investigation and said her son had been interviewed by cops and \u201ccooperated fully.\u201d<\/p>\n
