ESPN has parted ways with NFL analyst Ryan Clark, a seismic move involving a 10-year veteran of the network just ahead of a season that\u2019ll end with it broadcasting the Super Bowl for the first time in its history, according to multiple reports. <\/p>\n

Pro Football Talk added that Clark was among the first round of layoffs \u201cthat are expected to happen this week.\u201d<\/p>\n

Clark, who played 13 years in the league before shifting to broadcasting, was set to be \u201ca large part\u201d of its Super Bowl coverage and was on \u201cMonday Night Countdown\u201d for three seasons.<\/p>\n

But ESPN executives \u201csoured\u201d on Clark \u201cdue to the issues with his words,\u201d according to The Athletic, which specifically pointed to an incident with colleague Peter Schrager.<\/p>\n

During an episode of \u201cGet Up,\u201d as they discussed the Cowboys\u2019 season-opening game against the Eagles and the performance of CeeDee Lamb, Clark told Schrager, \u201cThat\u2019s the non-player in you\u201d when the former defended Lamb.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t belittle me like that,\u201d Schrager said. \u201cI can come and say, as three ex-players are saying one thing, and give an alternate perspective.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPeter, what I need for you to do is not get mad and let me finish,\u201d Clark responded, and the confrontation reportedly continued while off the air.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s unclear which other ESPN employees \u2014 and how many \u2014 will be impacted in the round of layoffs.<\/p>\n
