Soon after the final whistle, Lionel Messi sat on the MetLife Stadium pitch to take in the loss that ended Argentina\u2019s chance to repeat as champions.<\/p>\n

Spotting the legend, Yamal walked over to Messi, who stood up to share a moment with the 19-year-old phenom.<\/p>\n

The two shared an emotional hug and privately shared words.<\/p>\n

It was a sweet moment for the two generational players, who have a unique history.<\/p>\n

Since the World Cup started and especially before Sunday\u2019s final, a picture of a 20-year-old Messi holding baby Yamal has gone viral.<\/p>\n

The photo was taken in Spain, where Messi spent 24 years of his soccer career in Barcelona.<\/p>\n

At Fanatics Fest on Friday in New York, Messi explained the photo when asked by Tom Brady.<\/p>\n

\u201cHonestly, that photo is crazy because, well, in my life I took a picture with him when he was a baby, and today we are both facing in a World Cup,\u201d Messi said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe truth is, what I am saying is crazy, but that\u2019s it. He is one of the best in the world right now, without a doubt, and I wish him the best of luck because what\u2019s good for him will also be good for Barcelona.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, at 39, Messi is nearing the end of his career. <\/p>\n

He was overcome with emotion as the Argentina fans sang to the team after receiving their runner-up medals.<\/p>\n

After the win, Yamal took a moment on the pitch for himself at well.<\/p>\n

He fell to his knees and stretched out on the ground in celebration along with teammate Nico Williams.<\/p>\n

Yamal is only getting started and has just earned his first World Cup title \u2014 and Spain\u2019s second.<\/p>\n

After a scoreless game in regulation, Spain was able to put one in the net during extra-time thanks to stunning finish by Ferran Torres.<\/p>\n
