An American woman wrongfully detained in Iran for a year and a half on spying charges has now landed back in the US, her attorney announced.<\/p>\n

Dena Karari, who was locked up by the Iranian regime for 566 days and charged with espionage, wore an American flag around her shoulders as she arrived in San Francisco, according to a photo shared by her human rights lawyer on Saturday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWelcome home Dena Karari from Iran to the land of the free and the home of the brave\u2014 after 566 days wrongly detained by the Iranian regime,\u201d attorney Jared Genser wrote on X. \u201cTHANK YOU to all who made this day possible, known and unknown. We must now redouble our efforts to get all the other Americans out!\u201d<\/p>\n

Karari, an Iranian-American, was detained by Iranian officials in December 2024, the\u00a0New York Times\u00a0reported.<\/p>\n

The dual citizen worked for a US technology company and also ran a charity for children in Iran, according to the outlet.<\/p>\n

She was released from prison but both of her passports had been confiscated, preventing her from leaving the country.<\/p>\n

President Trump announced the release of Karari as a \u201cgesture of goodwill\u201d by Iran on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cIran has allowed an American Citizen, who was wrongfully detained in December of 2024 under the \u2018presidency\u2019 of Sleepy Joe Biden, to leave the Country,\u201d\u00a0he wrote on Truth Social on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe is now safely outside of Iran, and in good condition,\u201d the president added. \u201cThe United States of America appreciates this gesture of Goodwill by Iran!\u201d<\/p>\n
