A family\u2019s unusual discovery in a rental home that left some TikTok viewers shocked finally has an explanation.<\/p>\n

Libby Birrell and Aubrey Birrell, two sisters from Utah, recently went viral on social media after checking into an Airbnb rental and recognizing members of their own family in a framed beach photo hanging on the wall.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Fox News Digital this week, the sisters admitted they were extremely \u201ccreeped out\u201d by seeing the picture.\u00a0<\/p>\n

They were at a rental home in Oceanside, San Diego,\u00a0with about 30 relatives\u00a0to celebrate their grandfather\u2019s 80th birthday in early July, they said, when they spotted the photo.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe moment we saw it, we made everyone come up and look, and they were all in awe,\u201d Aubrey Birrell said. \u201cI started FaceTiming my friends because they all know my family. They were in shock, too. It was crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fox News Digital reached out to Airbnb for comment.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe first time we were sleeping, I will say we were creeped out,\u201d said Aubrey Birrell, 26.<\/p>\n

It felt \u201creally strange,\u201d she added. \u201cDid they know we were coming? We were just feeling a little confused, a little eerie, but also it was just shocking.\u201d<\/p>\n

They soon asked the host about the photo \u2014 who explained that the home\u2019s decorator is a San Diego photographer who takes aerial beach photos and enlarges them as artwork for\u00a0vacation rentals.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re looking at this picture, and my dad is like, \u2018This looks like me,’\u201d Aubrey Birrell says\u00a0in the viral video.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m like, \u2018Dad, what?\u2019 \u2026 No, this is my dad. That\u2019s my sister, Libby, from 10 years ago, and that\u2019s Brady, my brother, 10 years ago,\u201d she says as she points to the family members she sees in the picture.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have those swimsuits,\u201d Libby Birrell, 19, adds in the video. \u201cWe are literally in this picture.\u201d<\/p>\n

The sisters said they believe the photo was taken about 10 years ago at either\u00a0Mission Beach\u00a0or Imperial Beach during one of their family trips for their brother\u2019s soccer tournament.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe remember the swimsuits. We remember the time. We\u2019re pretty confident,\u201d Aubrey said.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe must have captured us when we were there,\u201d said Aubrey Birrell, speaking of the photographer.<\/p>\n

While the family\u2019s mystery appears to be solved, some questions remain.<\/p>\n

In comments on the viral video, users claimed they\u2019d spotted what appeared to be the same beach photograph\u00a0hanging in other vacation rentals\u00a0and homes in other states \u2014 including Florida. The claims were unconfirmed, but the idea was unsettling to some people.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The viral video prompted a mix of amusement, alarm and a few similar stories.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of people were telling us we should leave, that it was like the start of a horror movie,\u201d Aubrey Birrell recalled.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of people also shared similar experiences, like seeing themselves in a picture frame at a store or spotting themselves on a pamphlet in another state. It was kind of cool to hear those stories.\u201d<\/p>\n

The older sister said the home\u2019s host even offered to give the family a copy of the beach print.<\/p>\n

Today, the sisters said they\u2019re amused by the discovery.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel all right with it. I was telling [our host] that if we could get a print from the photographer, that would be so cool, just so we could always remember it. I think it\u2019s fun,\u201d Aubrey Birrell said.<\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

\u201cAnd if anyone else who stays at that [rental home] sees the video,\u201d she added, \u201cthey can go look for the picture.\u201d<\/p>\n
