President Trump ordered another wave of airstrikes against Iran Monday, marking the third consecutive night the US military has battered regime targets.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cAt 4:45 p.m. ET today, US Central Command began launching the third consecutive night of strikes against Iran, at the Commander in Chief\u2019s direction,\u201d read a statement released by the combatant command.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThese strikes will continue imposing a heavy cost on Iranian forces and degrade their ability to attack innocent civilians and commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz,\u201d CENTCOM added.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On Sunday night, US fighter aircraft, naval vessels, one-way attack aerial drones and one-way attack sea drones hit \u201cdozens of targets at multiple locations,\u201d according to CENTCOM, including Iranian military air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Trump teased the latest show of US military might earlier on Monday as he vowed to take control of the Strait of Hormuz.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re taking over the strait. They have nothing. They\u2019ve got nothing,\u201d Trump told \u201cFox & Friends\u201d when asked about Iran\u2019s claims to have closed the critical waterway.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo we\u2019re just going to hit them very hard, and we\u2019re going to, we\u2019re going to keep the strait, and we\u2019ll probably run it,\u201d the president later added. \u201cWe\u2019ll become the guardian of the strait. Maybe we\u2019ll call it the guardian angel of the strait, and we should be reimbursed for that \u2026 We guarded it for nothing, and now we\u2019re going to guard it \u2014 we\u2019re going to get paid for guarding it.\u201d<\/p>\n
