\u201cHell on wheels\u201d murderer Mackenzie Shirilla boasted about being given a twisted nickname in her all-women lockup, her prison ex-girlfriend claimed.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe started talking and she told me her nickname was \u2018Shirilla the killa,\u2019 like, that\u2019s what her bunkmates called her,\u201d former Ohio Reformatory for Women inmate Shyann Topping told the US Sun.<\/p>\n

Topping, 27, told the outlet she dated the 21-year-old convicted double murderer for a couple of weeks behind bars \u2014 where Shirilla was a very demanding girlfriend.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we did argue, it\u2019s because I didn\u2019t come outside on time,\u201d the woman said, explaining that the duo would often get intimate in the prison yard.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd she\u2019s like, \u2018I was waiting for you. Where were you? Like, if this is how it\u2019s gonna go, I just won\u2019t talk to you,\u2019\u201d Topping said.<\/p>\n

The lesbian love affair was cut short when Topping was released from her prison sentence just two weeks after they met \u2014 devastating Shirilla, who she claimed professed her love.<\/p>\n

\u201cMackenzie was upset that I was leaving. She would tell me all the time, \u2018I wish we met sooner, before you were about to get out. I wish you would have talked before this,\u2019\u201d the former inmate said.<\/p>\n

Topping also claimed Shirilla \u2014 who was convicted of intentionally crashing her car and killing her boyfriend and friend in 2022 \u2014 talked about what their relationship would look like outside prison, and shared many other grand plans for the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe said she was just gonna live it [up] if she gets out,\u201d Topping told the Sun.<\/p>\n

\u201cLike, she\u2019s gonna go back to concerts. She\u2019s gonna travel. She\u2019s gonna be an influencer and write a book when she gets out about everything that happened.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe said it might take some time, but she\u2019s gonna get out and live it again,\u201d the former inmate said.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, Shirilla appeared \u201cpretty and bubbly\u201d behind bars, and sported a \u201cpopular girl aura,\u201d according to Topping and a second former inmate, Mary Katherine Crowder.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I was in there with her, you\u2019d look at her and she had her makeup done every day, she was very well put together \u2014 almost like preppy,\u201d Crowder, who served about six months alongside Shirilla, previously told The Post.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone knew why she was there, and she walked around like she was this famous person within prison,\u201d Crowder said. \u201cShe always had makeup done, hair done, her clothes were altered to fit her body tighter or be different.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe definitely carried herself like she was the Regina George of prison \u2026 she was very much like an \u2018It girl,\u2019\u201d she recalled \u2014 referencing the \u201cMean Girls\u201d clique leader.<\/p>\n

Both former inmates also said they never saw Shirilla \u2014 the subject of a new, No. 1 Netflix documentary, \u201cThe Crash\u201d \u2014 show an ounce of remorse for her teen victims.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was always bubbly, smiley, happy, line-dancing every Friday. I\u2019ve never seen her sad, honestly,\u201d her alleged ex-girlfriend reportedly said.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe just stays real busy all day,\u201d Topping said, adding that Shirilla frequently did arts and crafts and jammed out to hip-hop music from Kid Cudi and Playboi Carti on her prison-issued tablet.<\/p>\n

During their brief relationship \u2014 which kicked off because Topping \u201cthought [Shirilla] was beautiful\u201d compared to the rest of the lot \u2014 the former inmate believed the double murderer\u2019s claims that the car crash that landed her in prison had been accidental.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought, okay, if this girl really is innocent, it would be an amazing story to get out, write a book and blow up off of that and even honor your boyfriend and his friend,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen if she did blow up, okay, she could set the families off with her, what is it? Publishing money.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, since her release, Topping has come to believe the truckload of evidence that prosecutors had against her alleged ex-girlfriend \u2014 and is no longer buying that Shirilla suffered from health issues.<\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

\u201cNow I\u2019m thinking, okay, she was just trying to grab a piece of fame. I don\u2019t think she would do any of that for the families if she got out,\u201d Topping said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think she would throw up a big middle finger to them like, I got away with it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shirilla, who was 17 at the time of the crash, was ordered to serve two concurrent sentences of 15 years to life following a dramatic bench trial in 2023. She is appealing her conviction for a second time.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not gonna work. You have to show remorse. You at least gotta tell the families what happened,\u201d Topping said about her appeal efforts, and slammed Shirilla\u2019s crimes as \u201csick\u201d and \u201cevil.\u201d<\/p>\n
