The migrant boyfriend suspected of murdering a New York mom at her home in Ireland allegedly asked her for a bunch of money just a week before her death.<\/p>\n

Jamey Carney, 43, had told a pal that her beau, Ahmad Al-Saqar, sought the equivalent of around $5,700 about a week before her murder at her house in Killarney,\u00a0the Irish Independent reported.<\/p>\n

Al-Saqar is now wanted for questioning by authorities in connection with the murder of Carney, who is believed to have been beaten and then suffocated in her bed early Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Al-Saqar, an asylum-seeker from Jordan, is feared to have fled to the Middle East in the hours after her death.<\/p>\n

Authorities are examining the victim\u2019s phone calls and texts as well as her social-media accounts and bank statements as part of their probe.<\/p>\n

Carney, who was originally from tony Westchester County outside of New York City, moved with her young daughter to Ireland in May 2021.<\/p>\n

She is believed to have met Al-Saqar at a pro-Palestine rally in Killarney about 18 months ago and\u00a0frequently shared pictures of the pair on social media.<\/p>\n

He told friends that he and Carney had taken part in a religious marriage ceremony earlier this year and were wed in the Islamic faith, former roommate Husam Salha told the Irish Independent.<\/p>\n

Al-Saqar posted a video online around that time with the words, \u201cMy bride and my princess,\u201d showing Carney wearing a ring on his TikTok.<\/p>\n

\u201cAl-Saqar said they had gone to the mosque and accepted to be husband and wife,\u201d Salha said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn Islam, when you get married, you have to let all the people know that you are husband and wife,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Salha said he learned of Carney\u2019s death and Al-Saqar fleeing Ireland when he arrived back at his migrant accommodation Tuesday evening and the police were there.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey talked to me for several hours, and they took my phone and asked me to call him,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Al-Saqar\u2019s phone was still active, but he did not answer Salha\u2019s calls, he said.<\/p>\n

Carney was previously married to an Irish national who lives in Killarney.<\/p>\n

Her mother and sister have arrived in Killarney this weekend to care for her 13-year-old daughter.<\/p>\n
