MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. \u2014 Norway coach St\u00e5le Solbakken could have complained.<\/p>\n

To the whole world, it appeared his team had been the victim of a call that should have wiped England\u2019s first goal off the board, as the ball had seemed to hit the overhead camera wire to give away possession.<\/p>\n

\u201cOK, it was a bit bizarre, the things that happened today, but that\u2019s also part of football,\u201d Solbakken said. \u201cThat\u2019s also part of why football is the best sport in the world, because things like that can happen. But yeah, we have to accept it. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I know it\u2019s tough now, it\u2019s tough for the players, it\u2019s tough for me. We don\u2019t have a good feeling now. But hopefully in a week when we look back, we have a much better feeling.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bellingham, who tied the game 1-1 after the impromptu buildup that followed the ball hitting the wire, said, \u201cI didn\u2019t see that,\u201d when asked about the moment.<\/p>\n

FIFA, in a statement posted to X, said that the chip in the ball had not sensed any contact with the wire.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe sensor in the Connected Ball showed no peak in the \u2018heartbeat of the ball\u2019 when in the air,\u201d the statement said, \u201cand therefore no evidence that the ball touched the overhead wire and changed the movement of the ball.\u201d<\/p>\n

The chip in the ball has already proven controversial, as it was used to rule out Croatia\u2019s tying goal in its Round of 32 match against Portugal. Then, the sensor allegedly showed the ball had hit a hair on a Croatian player\u2019s head, making the play offside.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a chip in the ball [that] can tell you if a hair touches it, as we know since the Croatia-Portugal game,\u201d England manager Thomas Tuchel said. \u201cThey should be able to tell you if it happened. I\u2019m not aware of it. I didn\u2019t see it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Solbakken urged media not to focus on the controversy.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will talk about the wire until we are all dead,\u201d he said in Norwegian, through an interpreter. \u201cI hope we can think about and talk about other things. That\u2019s my hope. I hope that will not be the story of this team. It shouldn\u2019t be.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bellingham was not happy with Tuchel\u2019s comments after the game, with the manager saying in a sideline interview he didn\u2019t like how the team had played.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe he doesn\u2019t know what it\u2019s like to play in these types of conditions against Erling Haaland, [Martin] \u00d8degaard, [Antonio] Nusa, [Alexander] S\u00f8rloth,\u201d Bellingham said. \u201cThat\u2019s not an easy team to play against. I think we tried to create a positive environment. We should continue that going into the final four. I can\u2019t speak highly enough of the lads. \u2026 Sometimes you have to win dirty and we did that again tonight.\u201d<\/p>\n
