A former New Jersey college\u00a0basketball star was fatally shot and two people wounded Friday night at a Harlem basketball tournament, cops and witnesses said.<\/p>\n

Fairleigh Dickinson University standout Kinu Rochford was struck twice in the head at around 10:30 p.m. at the Kingdome Basketball Tournament in the Martin Luther King Jr. Towers on Lenox Avenue, police said.<\/p>\n

Rochford, 35, who was playing in the tournament, was shot while watching between games, according to cops.<\/p>\n

Witnesses said Rochford was struck the second time when he was already on the ground bleeding. Cops have not confirmed that.<\/p>\n

Emergency responders gave CPR to Rochford, who lived in Crown Heights, and rushed him to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital, but he couldn\u2019t be saved, cops said.<\/p>\n

The two injured \u2014 a 28-year-old man was shot in the shin and a 22-year-old woman was shot in the right forearm \u2014 were among the estimated 500 in the crowd watching the tournament between West 112th Street and West 115th Street.<\/p>\n

They were both taken to Harlem Hospital in stable condition.<\/p>\n

There were no arrests, and the motive wasn\u2019t clear, a police spokesman said.<\/p>\n

The FDU Knights posted condolences on Instagram about Rochford, a standout power forward and center when he played there from 2011 to 2013.<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/strong>FDU is devastated to hear of the tragic passing of former men\u2019s basketball player Kinu Rochford (\u201813),\u201d the post reads.<\/p>\n

\u201cA standout Knight and leader, Rochford built a legacy in Hackensack. He was 35 years old.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Dave\u2019s Joint, a website dedicated to basketball, also posted about Rochford\u2019s death on X.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur condolences go out to the family & friends of Kinu Rochford, a former standout at Globe Tech & at FDU in the early to mid 2010\u2019s,\u201d the post reads. \u201cMay he rest in power!\u00a0<\/p>\n

Rochford began playing professionally in 2013 and won the Lithuanian National Basketball League championship in 2017 with Garonne S\u016bduva-Mantinga. <\/p>\n

A man who identified himself as \u201cFreak\u201d said it was the first day of the well-known tourney that was delayed Thursday because of rain.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis s\u2013t needs to stop,\u201d Freak told the Post. \u201cI got kids running around these projects.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said there were about 500 people packed into seats watching the games.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a day for the community and we\u2019re probably not gonna have this no more,\u201d he said. \u201cWe need more police (on) patrol.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jessica Montgommery, who has been living in the towers for a decade, was at the tournament when sheheard the gunshots.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt sounded like a firework,\u201d the 45-year-old said. \u201cAnd then I heard it again and people started running.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

A man, who identified himself as \u201cWavy,\u201d saw paramedics working on Rochford.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was one of the players,\u201d he said. \u201cHe was just warming up for the next game.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
