The New York mother, who was allegedly killed by her asylum-seeking boyfriend inside her new home in Ireland, died by suffocation, contradicting initial reports from the bloody murder scene.<\/p>\n

Jamey Carney\u2019s battered body, discovered in bed by her 13-year-old daughter, was found hidden underneath a duvet in her room on Tuesday morning in the town of Killarney.<\/p>\n

Carney had suffered multiple severe wounds to her head and was believed to have been a victim of a brutal attack from her new beau, Middle Eastern suspected killer Ahmad Alsaqer, but she did not die from the violent assault.<\/p>\n

The 43-year-old mother-of-one died as a result of suffocation, according to a postmortem examination by State Pathologist Dr Linda Mulligan, the Irish Times reported.<\/p>\n

No additional information from the exam was released.<\/p>\n

The Gardai, Irish police, have opened a murder investigation into Carney\u2019s death and are searching for 28-year-old Alsaqer, who is believed to have fled the country hours after the alleged killing.<\/p>\n

Officials fear DNA evidence found at the scene may hinder the investigation as Alsaqer had visited Carney\u2019s home regularly as opposed to a murder committed by a stranger, the outlet reported.<\/p>\n

Carney, who was working for a healthcare consulting company, met Alsaqer at the pro-Palestinian rally a year and a half ago.<\/p>\n

The two had been pictured in multiple social media posts in the weeks leading up to Carney\u2019s death, including one where they <\/p>\n

He is believed to have jumped on a bus from Killarney to Dublin at 3 a.m. and possibly a last-minute flight out of Ireland to Istanbul, Turkey, according to the Irish Independent.<\/p>\n

Police are probing several of Alsaqer\u2019s contacts across the Middle East, including in Turkey, Syria and Jordan, suspecting they are helping the man, who arrived in Ireland in 2024, escape.<\/p>\n

Officials issued alerts at ports and airports over fears Alsaqer had a 12-hour head start to flee the country before Carney\u2019s body was found.<\/p>\n

\u201c(Police) are satisfied that a person of interest in this investigation left the jurisdiction in the early hours of Tuesday 7th July prior to the body of the deceased female being discovered and reported to,\u201d a police statement to the Irish Independent said.<\/p>\n

It is unclear how he could have fled the country as he wouldn\u2019t have had access to his passport due to his open asylum application, sources told the outlet.<\/p>\n

Carney, who had moved with her daughter from Westchester County, NY, to Ireland in 2021, was remembered by family as a \u201cmost caring humanitarian.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe sweetest, most caring, most humanitarian person,\u201d her cousin Ryan Fox told RTE.<\/p>\n

Fox called Carney\u2019s death \u201ca shock and a nightmare\u201d to their family, as her mother was \u201cvery upset\u201d and \u201ccould barely get her words across.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s something that nobody expected because, two days before, there was a picture posted, everybody\u2019s smiling,\u201d Fox told the outlet.<\/p>\n

Carney may have been killed during a jealous fit or rage, the Irish Independent previously reported.<\/p>\n

Neighbors reported hearing a loud argument coming from Carney\u2019s rented home on Monday, hours before her body was discovered.<\/p>\n

Police also asked for anyone in the area of the luxury housing estate between 11 p.m. Monday and 5 a.m. Tuesday to step forward with any information or CCTV video.<\/p>\n
