A teenager busted for allegedly groping a woman with kids on the subway and saying \u201cmy bad\u201d is a Yale student who once rallied against sexual harassment training, sources said Thursday \u2014 as his high-profile lawyer insisted he\u2019s innocent and called the victim \u201cunhinged.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ari Shtein, 18 \u2014 who was freed by a judge after being charged with using his fingers to penetrate a 30-year-old victim as a group of kids watched on a Manhattan R train last week \u2014 is an aspiring journalist who once wrote an opinion piece calling sex abuse training on the Ivy League campus pointless.<\/p>\n

\u201cSometime during our first couple weeks on campus, all freshmen were made to spend an hour and a half in a sex harassment training,\u201d he wrote in the student-run Buckley Beacon newspaper in October.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat exactly was the point of participation in this program\u2026Was there anyone in that room who planned to go around harassing and assaulting their classmates without the understanding that it would be wrong to do so?\u201d\u00a0he wrote in the article, titled Cut the Fat.<\/p>\n

\u201cMandatory sexual misconduct trainings \u2026[are] pretty good at convincing people that comments like \u2018you look good in your jeans\u2019 are always inappropriate harassment,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

The student is originally from Michigan and has retained high-profile attorney, Priya Chaudhry, whose past clients include \u201cCreed III\u201d actor Jonathan Majors and Real Housewife Jen Shah. She denied the allegations Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery strap-hanger has encountered unhinged people on the subway. Unfortunately, when Ari visited our city, it was his turn. Ari did not assault anyone. He was visiting bookstores with a friend when his life was turned upside down by a woman who falsely accused him of a vile crime,\u201d Chaudhry told The Post Thursday.<\/p>\n

Shtein is accused of putting two fingers inside the unidentified woman\u2019s vagina as he stood behind her on an uptown R in Chelsea on June 28, according to police.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cMy bad, didn\u2019t know you were going to react that way,\u201d Shtein allegedly told her after she recoiled in horror, according to police sources.<\/p>\n

The victim was traveling with four kids,\u00a0ranging in age from 7 to 11, at the time of the sexual abuse,\u00a0 police and prosecutors said.<\/p>\n

Shtein describes himself online as fan of \u201cclassical liberalism,\u201d who writes about \u201cphilosophy\u201d and \u201cpolitics\u201d for the Yale Daily News and at Yale\u2019s The Buckley Beacon.<\/p>\n

A bio listing him as the opinion editor of The Beacon was yanked from the paper\u2019s masthead after news of his arrest broke Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cHe will no longer be volunteering at The Beacon,\u201d spokesman for the paper told The Post Thursday.<\/p>\n

Shtein is spending his summer working at the Washington DC-based libertarian think tank, Reason, where he has written articles titled, \u201cTrump\u2019s Trade War Caused a $15 Billion Decline in U.S. Farm Sales to China\u201d and\u00a0\u201c New Study Finds Average College Professor \u2018Only Slightly Less Left\u2019 Than Bernie Sanders\u201d in recent weeks.<\/p>\n

On his blog, he declares,\u00a0 \u201cI write about whatever I think about. Some philosophy and effective altruism. Recently much more politics, though I\u2019m trying to kick the habit.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cContent ranges in lucidity from data-driven thinkpiece to schizophrenic bathroom stall door\u2013scrawl,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

Last week, Shtein initially fled the scene of the alleged groping, but surrendered to cops\u00a0just after 7 a.m. Wednesday,\u00a0police said.<\/p>\n

He was charged with\u00a0sexual abuse, aggravated sexual abuse,\u00a0forcible touching\u00a0and endangering the welfare of a child,\u00a0prosecutors\u00a0said.<\/p>\n

At his arraignment in Manhattan Criminal court, prosecutors said the alleged crime was witnessed by the four kids who were with the victim. <\/p>\n

Attorney Chaudhry \u2014 who was\u00a0 named\u00a0 one of\u00a0 25 \u201cPower Lawyers\u201d by The Hollywood Reporter\u2014\u00a0said in court that the charges \u201cas written up invite skepticism.\u201d <\/p>\n

She also called for video from the train to be released, adding it would \u201cclear up this matter quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHis reputation has been destroyed before a single piece of evidence has been made public, he has been labelled a creep and convicted in the court of public opinion,\u201d Chaudhry said in a later statement to The Post.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe allegation is nonsense. On the woman\u2019s own version of events, she would have had to have been wearing a swimsuit for the alleged conduct to have been physically possible. The subway car was packed. If you were on that train, and witnessed this woman\u2019s behavior, please contact my firm.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yale didn\u2019t return calls from The Post Thursday.<\/p>\n

A Yale student on Thursday also told The Post, they want Shtein booted from the school if the allegations are true.<\/p>\n

\u201cHaving followed Shtein\u2019s online work, I find it deeply troubling to see these allegations now arise in connection with someone whose public writing already displayed such a troubling lack of empathy toward issues of gender, harm, and accountability,\u201d the unidentified student, who knows Shtein, told The Post.<\/p>\n
