She was 75.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBonnie\u2019s family and team are heartbroken to announce that Bonnie unexpectedly passed away last night in hospital in Portugal as a result of the illness that she was being treated for,\u201d a spokesperson said in a statement on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/metrotransitreview.com\/?p=4047\">University of Alabama student, her friend, and dog he was pet-sitting found shot dead inside home<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will issue a further statement shortly but for now ask for privacy to deal with this tragedy.<\/p>\n<p>On May 7, Page Six confirmed that the musician was put in a medically induced coma after undergoing an emergency intestinal surgery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBonnie has been put into an induced coma by her Doctors to aid her recovery. We know that you all wish her well and ask for privacy at this difficult time please,\u201d her manager told us in a statement. \u201cWe will issue a further statement when we are able to.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The day prior, it was revealed that the three-time Grammy nominee had been rushed to a hospital in Portugal for the emergency procedure. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very sorry to announce that Bonnie has been admitted to hospital in Faro, Portugal, where she has a home, for emergency intestinal surgery,\u201d a statement shared to her official statement and social media pages read. \u201cThe surgery went well, and she is now recuperating.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know that all of her family, friends, and fans will be concerned about this news and will be wishing her well for a full and swift recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tyler was first rushed to the hospital on April 30,\u00a0according to the US Sun.<\/p>\n<p>Her 2026 European tour was scheduled\u00a0set to kick off in Malta\u00a0on May 22.<\/p>\n<p>Back in March, the singer shared how she continues her love of performing, despite experiencing some health issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m fit enough at the moment, touch wood, and I\u2019m really enjoying doing the shows,\u201d she told Hello! Magazine. \u201cI\u2019m still rocking on that stage with my wonderful band, and if you\u2019ve got your health, you\u2019ve got everything.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do home Pilates, only 20 minutes a day \u2014 it\u2019s something I can do in my hotel rooms,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have had problems with my knees; I didn\u2019t have new knees, I had what they call washouts [a surgical knee procedure], which turned out\u00a0to be very successful. It was actually the result of Tyler\u2019s 1977 procedure to get nodules removed from her vocal cords.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I went back in the studio, I started singing\u00a0\u2018It\u2019s a Heartache\u2019\u00a0and my producers said, \u2018My God, your voice is husky now, but we love it.\u2019 It turned out to be a great thing because it became my very first hit record in America,\u201d she told Hello!<\/p>\n<p>By the 1980s, she ventured into rock music with the help of songwriter and producer\u00a0Jim Steinman, who wrote her biggest hit, \u201cTotal Eclipse of the Heart,\u201d which shot Tyler to global superstardom.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI still get excited when I hear the song on the radio,\u201d Tyler said of her hit song\u00a0during an interview on \u201cGood Morning America\u201d\u00a0in April 2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery time the eclipse comes, everyone all over the world plays\u00a0\u2018Total Eclipse of the Heart,\u2019\u00a0and I never get tired of singing it,\u201d she gushed.<\/p>\n<p>The song was featured on her 1983 chart-topping album, \u201cFaster Than the Speed of Night,\u201d which was nominated for Best Rock Album, Female at the 1984 Grammys.<\/p>\n<p>She and Steiman worked together to produce another one of her massive hits, \u201cHolding Out for a Hero,\u201d which was featured on the \u201cFootloose\u201d soundtrack.<\/p>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Tyler has collaborated on duets with many iconic musicians including Rod Stewart, Meat Loaf and Todd Rundgren.<\/p>\n<p>Over her impressive five-decades long career, Tyler has released 18 studio albums, with her most recent being \u201cThe Best Is Yet to Come,\u201d released in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/metrotransitreview.com\/?p=4043\">Iran to close Strait of Hormuz as it vows mass retaliation against US attacks: report<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Tyler is survived by her husband of 52 years, Robert Sullivan. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;Total Eclipse of the Heart&#8221; singer Bonnie Tyler has died.
