He\u2019s not feeling euphoric. <\/p>\n

Warning: Spoilers ahead! Do not proceed unless you\u2019ve watched \u201cEuphoria\u2019s\u201d seventh episode of Season 3.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cEuphoria\u201d catapulted Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney and Zendaya into their current status as A-listers, and now, one has been axed from the show. <\/p>\n

Season 3 killed Elordi\u2019s controversial character, Nate Jacobs.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He was buried alive in a coffin, with a pipe leading to the surface so that he could breathe. A rattlesnake slithered down the pipe and bit him. <\/p>\n

He had been placed there by Naz (Jack Topalian), the gangster he owes about a million dollars to. <\/p>\n

Naz\u2019s plan was to leave Nate down there (with a pipe to breathe) for 72 hours while his wife, Cassie (Sweeney) could get the money together. <\/p>\n

Unfortunately for Nate, before 72 hours was up, a snake got him. Naz also didn\u2019t make it out alive, as he was fatally shot by Season 3\u2019s other gangster, Alamo (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje). Cassie and Maddy (Alexa Demie) scrambled to get the money together as Nate got dug up, but they got a nasty surprise, as they were met with his dead body. <\/p>\n

In the \u201cinside the episode\u201d segment at the end, Elordi said in his post-mortem interview, \u201cIt was a cool way to go, Nate is somebody who\u2019s made so many mistakes and so many dark choices.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor called it a \u201cbittersweet thing,\u201d adding that the show has been a \u201cmassive\u201d part of \u201cnot just my career, but my life,\u201d and said that he\u2019s \u201cproud\u201d to have been part of it.<\/p>\n

First premiering in 2019, the Sam Levinson-created drama initially followed its characters in high school. Elordi, Zendaya and Sweeney were lesser known at the time.<\/p>\n

\u201cEuphoria changed my life,\u201d Elordi, 28, told Variety in 2023.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cSaltburn\u201d was the Australian star\u2019s big-screen breakout that same year. Per Vogue Australia, his \u201cWuthering Heights\u201d co-star Margot Robbie (who produced \u201cSaltburn\u201d) suggested him for the role at the time after watching him in \u201cEuphoria.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The \u201cFrankenstein\u201d star told GQ UK in 2023 that before landing on the HBO show, \u201cI wasn\u2019t booking jobs. I think I had \u2013 I don\u2019t know, $400 or $800 left in my bank account \u2013 and \u2018Euphoria\u2019 was my last audition before I went home for a little while to make some money and recuperate.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the first two seasons, Nate was the show\u2019s villain. He was a high school jock with anger issues \u2013 he manipulated, threatened and blackmailed everyone around him, choked his then-girlfriend, Maddy (Alexa Demi), and struck up a relationship with her best friend, Cassie (Sweeney).<\/p>\n

Nate\u2019s issues stemmed from finding his father Cal\u2019s (Eric Dane) sex tapes at a young age.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In Season 3, which is set five years after high school, Nate had a dramatically different personality.\u00a0<\/p>\n

His rage issues inexplicably seemed vanished, his demeanor was softer and nicer and he appeared to genuinely love Cassie (instead of using her, like he was in Season 2).<\/p>\n

Instead of being menacing, he did a goofy dance at his wedding. After he didn\u2019t get his way in front of a board of bureucrats, rather than blackmail or threaten them, he just pathetically cried and begged. <\/p>\n

Outraged fans criticized \u201cEuphoria\u201d for Nate\u2019s inexplicable personality change and slammed it for giving the character a \u201clobotomy.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Season 3 saw Nate take over his dad\u2019s construction business, but he ran into issues when he had to stop his build because of an endangered flower \u2013 the white fritillary.<\/p>\n

The show also revealed that he conned people into giving him money for his construction projects, including the gangster Naz.<\/p>\n

In the third episode of Season 3, when Nate didn\u2019t pay Naz the half a million dollars he owed him, Naz interrupted Nate and Cassie\u2019s wedding and had him brutally beaten on his wedding night. It all culminated in Naz cutting off Nate\u2019s toe. However, Nate later got it sewn back on. <\/p>\n

Topalian exclusively told Page Six that Elordi did most of his own stunts during the scene where Naz\u2019s henchmen threw Nate around.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s [Elordi] really doing the struggling and the fighting and the falling and all of that,\u201d he told us.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He called Elordi \u201ccommitted,\u201d \u201cgiving,\u201d and \u201cprepared,\u201d but \u201cbetween scenes, he\u2019s back to being Jacob.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously, he gets back into character really quickly,\u201d he went on. \u201cBut once [the director calls \u2018cut\u2019] even though he\u2019s been beaten and abused, he\u2019s still having a lot of fun. He\u2019s still cracking jokes and doing things like that.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Elordi told Entertainment Weekly in November that his acting process was different in Season 3. He noted that he likes to \u201cobsess over\u201d his work, and take the time to prepare by going through \u201cevery element and construct it and put it together.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The booked and busy actor \u2013 who was in \u201cFrankenstein\u201d and \u201cWuthering Heights\u201d back to back \u2013 noted that he had \u201cno time\u201d to prepare for Season 3.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I didn\u2019t have scripts in any kind of full sense. I sort of just had creative conversations with Sam, so I had no choice.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cPriscilla\u201d actor also noted that he \u201cloves\u201d Nate, even though most fans hate him.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI act to understand a different experience, to express an experience that\u2019s different to my own,\u201d said Elordi.\u00a0\u201cPlaying him taught me a lot about empathy and patience, which is strange with a character like that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elordi also told the outlet that Nate\u2019s dark deeds didn\u2019t bother him.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a real treat to be a part of that show, and to play the quote-unquote bad guy,\u201d he said.\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s always more fun. You don\u2019t wanna play some morally superior, world-saving loser.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
